Glass with exceptionally high niobium content: Niobium-Barium-Potassium phosphate glass. Inspired by the high refractive properties of lithium niobate, I explored a new composition containing 30 mol% Nb₂O₅. Achieving this was particularly challenging, as niobium oxide typically tends to form crystalline phases. However, by carefully balancing barium and potassium in the right proportions, I successfully produced a glass with an extremely high refractive index. The left bead retains traces of Nb³⁺ ions, which give it a subtle light blue hue. In contrast, the glass on the right was achieved through a prolonged melting process, resulting in a composition dominated by Nb⁴⁺ ions.

Europium 2+ Aluminum Strontium Phosphate Glass Bead

Exhibits a striking broadband lilac-blue fluorescence under UV light.
Dimensions: Approximately 12 mm in diameter.
Weight: Ranges from 1 to 1.4 g.
Color: Colorless transparent

This experimental glass is available in limited quantities.

The lilac-blue fluorescence is believed to result from energy transfer between Eu²⁺ and Al, though this hypothesis requires further investigation.

We are excited to introduce the world’s first complete set of Rare Earth Doped Glass Samples, exclusively available here. This unique collection comprises 16 distinct ingots, each crafted from phosphate glass doped with 17 mol% rare earth oxides and potassium oxide, offering a vibrant display of colors and properties.

Among the highlights of this set are the magnetic properties exhibited by the ingots doped with elements like Erbium (Er), Terbium (Tb), Gadolinium (Gd), and Dysprosium (Dy). These rare earth elements are known for their significant magnetic moments, making the glass not only visually striking but also fascinating for studies in magnetism.

Under UV excitation, some of the ingots like Europium and Terbium glass show extremely high fluorescence. Others, like Samarium, Thulium and Dysprosium show weaker fluorescence due to optical quenching effects.

Each ingot in this collection is more than just a beautiful artifact—it’s a showcase of the interaction between light, color, and magnetism, providing a comprehensive glimpse into the unique characteristics of rare earth elements. Whether for research, education, or collection, this set is a rare opportunity to own a piece of advanced material science that is both colorful and functionally intriguing.

Secure this exceptional collection now, as it is truly the only one of its kind in the world.

This high Sm content (17 mol% Sm2O3) samarium potassium phosphate glass ingot is a fascinating and rare material, renowned for its unique optical properties. Under normal lighting conditions, it appears peach yellow. When exposed to 365 nm UV light, it displays orange fluorescence. Due to the high Sm³⁺ content, optical quenching occurs, resulting in a fluorescence that is weaker compared to more diluted glass samples. With a diameter of approximately 30 mm and a weight between 28-32 grams, this high-quality glass ingot is perfect for advanced material studies and cutting-edge experiments.

For the first time, we have successfully synthesized black phosphorus powder using a new method that allows for particle sizes as small as 5 nm. Traditionally, producing nano-sized black phosphorus from bulk material involves labor-intensive grinding and sonication for several days. This direct synthesis of micro- and nano-sized powders presents a promising pathway to new applications for black phosphorus.
