As the world gathers in Vienna for the 10th anniversary of the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT (The Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative) under the theme "We Are Unstoppable", we are proud to highlight the participation of Gottfried Pessl and the growing impact of the Africa Project.
The Summit is dedicated to turning climate ambition into action, a mission that aligns closely with the Africa Project’s focus on sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and community-driven solutions.
Gottfried Pessl’s presence at this milestone event reflects the importance of connecting global climate goals with local impact. Through innovation, partnerships, and long-term commitment, the Africa Project contributes to the kind of practical solutions the Summit champions.
We look forward to joining fellow changemakers in Vienna and advancing the conversation on a more sustainable future for all.
Pessl Instruments is proud to be a member of the recently started 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐂𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, as a part of the European Innovation Partnership for Productivity and Sustainability in Agriculture program (𝐄𝐈𝐏-𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢).
SmartCut is developing an AI‑based model that helps farmers determine the optimal grass‑cutting time by combining weather data, soil conditions, fertilization practices, and field drivability.
By providing dynamic forecasts on yield, quality, and follow‑up cuts, the model supports more sustainable grassland management and improved milk production in Rhineland‑Palatinate.

The future of African agriculture won't be built on assumptions. It will be built on data.📈 As farming operations face increasing pressure to produce more with fewer resources, access to reliable, hyper-local weather and environmental insights is becoming essential.
Bringing extensive experience in agriculture, precision farming, customer engagement, and business development, Jaco Viviers and Gerrit Möller will help us further support growers, agribusinesses, and partners across the continent.
🗣️ As Jaco puts it:
"𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺, 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱, 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆."
🗣️ Gerrit shares a similar vision:
"𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿-𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹, 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻."
Together, they will help strengthen our mission of making African agriculture more resilient, productive, and profitable through the intelligent use of weather and environmental data.
Welcome to the team, Jaco and Gerrit!

Water is one of the most valuable resources farmers manage every day, and no longer just another input in agriculture. In regions where water efficiency directly impacts productivity, irrigation is no longer just about supplying water, but about managing it intelligently.
Because the challenge is not simply delivering water to crops, but delivering the right amount, at the right time, based on real field conditions.💡And that's where technology makes a difference.
In this project in Azerbaijan, IBC Irrigation Systems implemented an irrigation system designed to help growers use water more efficiently while supporting healthy crop development. Together with weather monitoring and forecasting technologies such as METOS weather stations provided by METOS Turkey, farmers can make more informed irrigation decisions and optimize resource use.
