| 🔥 : Academy Second Modernism |
🤩 Since its inception in 2024 by the Wiener Festwochen, the 𝘈𝘬𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘦 𝘡𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘦 has striven to establish a gender-sensitive music culture with the aim of increasing the proportion of works written by composers and to create a global and diverse composition and performance . Each year, they invite composers, whose works will be performed by Klangforum Wien.
🥁 This year, Nyokabi Kariũki, Tania León, Elaine Mitchener, Bára Gísladóttir and Ailís Ní Ríain negotiate a discourse concerning cultural identity and participation from a postcolonial and inclusive perspective; Imsu Choi, Sofia Jernberg - singer, composer, Anna Korsun, Keiko Abe, katarina gryvul and Nicole Lizée devote themselves to a feeling of fellowship and connectivity as transcendental power, which in a world rife with fantasies of omnipotence, wars and religious conflict reclaims a space for humanity.
