My recent trip with the Amelie team took us to Luxembourg, then across the border into Germany’s Mosel region to discover the vineyards of in the Saar. Today, the estate is led by Florian Lauer, the fifth generation of the family, and one of the most talented winemakers of his generation.

PIERRE-OLIVIER GARCIA Nuits-Saint-Georges Herbues 2020

Dark-fruited, balanced, and very clearly Nuits-Saint-Georges. A 2020 with both lift and structure, real texture, and a long, steady finish.

Selosse arrives and Selosse departs. One of the few grower champagnes, which breaks everything you know about the region, the making and what makes the special bottles 📸

Roulot back to Lafon, back to Roulot and repeat. Two of my favorite meursault producers 📸

10 wines 🔥 and one of the best experiences we’ve ever had at a two-Michelin-star restaurant.

A night to remember. Hope to return soon again!

My first Hospices de Nuits wine from Pierre-Olivier Garcia, and that alone made it especially interesting, given how clearly he usually interprets the terroir of Nuits-Saint-Georges. This needed a lot of air before it began to show character, and it feels very much built for the long haul, with the fruit still sitting quite prominently at this stage. The balance is good once the wine opens, though the texture is a little thinner than expected. Even so, the wine remains clearly Nuits-Saint-Georges in character, with a nice, steady finish. Overall, a good wine, and one I would be curious to revisit in a few years to follow its development. 📸

A beautifully balanced dry Chenin Blanc. Nothing stands out too much, and the wine feels complete. It has the kind of texture I look for in great wines, not only from the wood, but from the wine itself, which suggests thoughtful winemaking and good raw material. The flavour and texture work together well, and the wine stays connected across the palate without any gap. For me, this is one of the most authentic styles of Chenin Blanc. The finish falls slightly into warmth, but it still lingers nicely.
