Enrosadira - new to my vocabulary and one of my new favorite words. It refers to when the Dolomites turn pink, or blush, in the local language of Ladin, as the sun sets against them. And trust me, it’s something worth seeing. Absolutely beautiful and so unique.

Thank you for a memorable (FUN!) week forming invaluable relationships, deepening our knowledge of the region and experiencing local traditions. The Dolomites holds a special place in my heart - now let’s get to skiing, hiking, biking and more… shall we?

Namibia, you were extraordinary. From the towering dunes of Sossusvlei and the endless silence of Kwessi Dunes, to the wild Skeleton Coast at Shipwreck Lodge, the remote beauty of Hoanib Valley Camp, the dramatic granite landscapes of Onduli Ridge, and the perfect ending at Omaanda by Zannier.
Days filled with vast horizons, desert sunsets, wildlife encounters, and some of the most breathtaking scenery I’ve ever experienced. A place that makes you feel wonderfully small and endlessly inspired.

For the second part of my African journey, I traveled south to Mozambique; a destination that may be lesser known to many Americans, yet remains wonderfully unspoiled and breathtaking. Easily accessible from South Africa, it’s an exceptional way to conclude a safari itinerary.

My first stop was Sussurro, truly one of the most memorable places I’ve ever stayed. With just six suites set on a serene peninsula, this family-run retreat offers an intimate and authentic experience that leaves you feeling like part of the family yourself. Days here unfold at a blissfully slow pace: beach picnics, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, sunset cruises aboard a handcrafted Dhow, and even playtime with the resident dachshunds. It’s “barefoot luxury” in the truest sense: restorative, grounding, and deeply special.

To complete our Mozambican adventure, we visited andBeyond Benguerra. Reaching the island is an experience in itself, a quick seven-minute helicopter transfer showcasing some of the most striking turquoise waters imaginable. The lodge feels like a safari retreat set beside the sea, with private beachfront suites that create a wonderfully romantic atmosphere. The snorkeling here was some of the best I’ve encountered, with sightings of sharks, turtles, octopus, eels, and more. Exceptional hospitality, exquisite cuisine, and an unforgettable setting made this a truly standout destination.

I can’t recommend Mozambique highly enough. While many travelers consider adding the Seychelles or Mauritius to a South African safari, we often find ourselves asking – why not Mozambique? The journey is seamless, and you’ll find yourself somewhere truly unique, far from the typical tourist path.

Jenny here! I’ve just returned from East Africa and WOW – what an incredible journey. From safari sunrises and bumpy back-country roads to gorilla trekking, warm hospitality, and unforgettable food, every single day brought a new adventure.

We began in the Maasai Mara, visiting a variety of camps and lodges that cater to every style of traveler. Cottar’s Camp delivers timeless charm inspired by its 1920s origins, while The Wild Collection impressed us with its villas, lodge, and my personal favorite; Wild Hill. The Wild Collection properties are located on their own conservancy are their mission combines community support, conservation, and exceptional guest experiences. Newly opened and beautifully perched above the Mara, Wild Hill offers sweeping views and is the perfect place to unwind at the end of a Kenyan itinerary.

From Kenya, it’s just a quick one-hour flight to Rwanda, where we continued on to One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, a stunning sanctuary tucked into the lush hills. For many, gorilla trekking is a bucket-list experience, and I can confidently say it exceeds every expectation. Trekking through the jungle and witnessing these incredible animals in their natural environment is truly unforgettable.
