Today, Hope for Kids attended a drum majorettes’ celebration party at Chiwere Primary School, where we were invited. The party was held to celebrate the Chiwere drum majorettes for winning at provincial level. Distinguished dignitaries were present, including MoPSE, the DDC, EMA, ZIMPARKS, representatives from other line ministries and local traditional leaders.
The programme was packed with activities including live performance from the ZPCS and speeches from various dignitaries. The Guest of Honour was the DSI, Madam Mademutsa. The children had an opportunity to showcase their talent through marching, and Hope for Kids also gave a presentation on ending child marriages and empowering young people, both boys and girls. We were glad to be part of the celebratory event, celebrating the achievements of the young determined children.

The Hope for Kids team, accompanied by Schools’ Inspector Mr Mupasi, visited Burning Vision Secondary School, Kuhudzai Primary School, and Dora High School to support and monitor their Entrepreneurship Clubs. We were pleased to see the progress being made across all three schools, with students actively managing projects including a tuckshop, a goat-rearing initiative, and a school restaurant. The clubs have established duty rosters, meet regularly for entrepreneurship lessons, and are demonstrating strong commitment, teamwork, and financial management skills. We commend the young entrepreneurs for their hard work and dedication and sincerely thank the school administrations for their continued support in empowering learners with practical business skills and opportunities for a brighter future.

Today, the Hope for Kids team attended the Provincial 2026 Mid-Year WASH Review Meeting at RIDA Boardroom alongside teams from Buhera, Makoni, Mutare, Chimanimani, Chipinge, and Mutasa.

The meeting reviewed progress against the 2026 Provincial WASH Workplan, discussed WASH coverage, alignment with NDS2, open defecation status, climate vulnerability, and water resources management interventions in both rural and urban areas. Stakeholders shared progress data, challenges, opportunities, and key priorities to strengthen WASH service delivery during the second half of 2026...REMEMBER that we are running a WASH project (Community Health) under Africa AHEAD and this is a very important meeting for us to relate with relevant stakeholders as we report about our programs.
