In Zimbabwe, the numbers tell a painful story.

According to UNFPA, 1 in 3 women aged 15–49 have experienced physical violence, while 1 in 4 have faced sexual violence since the age of 15.

While these may look like statistics to some, to us they are so much more. These are our sisters, mothers, daughters, and friends. Behind every number is a life disrupted, a dream cut short, a voice silenced.

Gender-based violence is not inevitable. It is preventable. Together we can challenge harmful norms, support survivors, and demand accountability.

Let’s build a Zimbabwe where women and girls live free from fear, and where dignity and equality are non-negotiable.
