𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝟓 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐰𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐝

Our Grade 5 pupils recently returned from an unforgettable class trip to the Lowveld, filled with adventure, learning, and lasting memories.

The journey began with a visit to the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, followed by a drive across the dam wall of Lake Mutirikwi (formerly Lake Kyle). From there, the pupils travelled to Hakamela Educational Camp, where they enjoyed exciting game drives and were fortunate enough to spot a variety of wildlife, including hyena, elephant, giraffe, zebra, and even a leopard!

The educational experience continued as the children learnt to identify animal spoor in the bush and took part in some classroom sessions, studying animal skulls and dentition to discover how teeth reveal an animal’s diet and lifestyle.

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the confluence of the Chiredzi and Lundi Rivers, where the pupils explored the river ecosystem in search of water beetles, fish, and frogs. They also enjoyed a visit to a crocodile farm, where many bravely held a baby crocodile!

On the journey home, the class stopped to walk across the iconic Birchenough Bridge, bringing a wonderful end to an incredible week.

Throughout the trip, our Grade 5 pupils demonstrated excellent teamwork, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning. They returned home with a greater appreciation for Zimbabwe’s rich history, remarkable wildlife, and natural environment, along with many special memories that will stay with them for years to come.

Nature truly is the best classroom. 🌿✨ We stepped back in time as we explored the breathtaking Tsindi Ruins and the historic Bernard Mizeki Shrine. Surrounded by history, culture, and the beauty of Zimbabwe’s landscape, the children experienced learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. These are the moments that bring history to life, spark curiosity, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Our Springvale House 1st Team enjoyed a competitive midweek fixture against Gateway, with plenty of determination, teamwork, and moments to celebrate on the field.

From classroom to countryside! 🚜 Our Grade 6 pupils enjoyed a fascinating visit to a productive farm in Macheke. 🫐🍊

An action-packed rugby match full of excitement and great moments against Ruzawi. Well done to all the players for giving their all on the field! A special thank you to the Peterhouse 1st XV boys who came along to support.

The Springvale House 1st Team girls’ and boys’ hockey fixtures against Ruzawi showcased great talent and outstanding sportsmanship. Always a favourite on the calendar! Well done to all the players for giving their best on the Astro, and thank you to everyone who came along to support. 🏑

A special morning at SVH as we officially presented our Springvale Festival Weekend pink kits.

We were honoured to welcome Alistair Mackenzie, CEO of Maguires , and his wife Tracey, who joined us for the presentation. Maguires has been a loyal and valued sponsor of SVH for many years, and we are incredibly grateful for their continued commitment to our school and sporting programmes.

This year marks a significant milestone, as our boys’ rugby and hockey teams, together with our girls’ hockey teams, will proudly wear pink for the first time this Festival weekend. The pink kit has been adopted in support of cancer awareness, standing in solidarity with those affected by cancer and helping to raise awareness for a cause that touches so many families and communities.

Thank you to Alistair and Tracey for sharing this special occasion with us and for their unwavering support. We are proud to partner with Maguires and look forward to seeing our teams wear pink with pride this weekend.

Springvale House Grade 6s were grateful to experience the crisp Nyanga air while enjoying one adventure after another. They were at Far and Wide with instructors who were encouraging and patient, inspiring everyone to step out of their comfort zones, push their limits, and work as a team.

It was a truly awesome experience for them all. 🤍
