Having had the privilege of living in the bush most of my life, I have been exposed to nature & opportunities that most wait a lifetime for.

So excited to have been apart of this incredible new discovery, it was some years ago that I was first told about there being fossils on the island which prompted me to search. We found numerous fossils over the years and was present for the unearthing of this new find .

What an amazing discovery to be apart of.

All of us at Bushlife look forward to the upcoming denning season for the Painted Dogs of Mana with the hope that Violet is again pregnant and will give birth to a large healthy litter.

Fundraising committee volunteer and TRF member Nicki Ubinger updated the family tree presented in Africa’s Wild Dogs: A Survival Story by Jocelin Kagan. Jocelin’s book can be found on Amazon, and all royalties from the sale of her book go into the nonprofit organization Africa’s Wild Dog Survival Fund, which in turn provides funds to Bushlife Conservancy and several other worthy organizations dedicated to the protection of wild dogs in southern Africa.

We wish Violet all the best this season as we continue to follow her as she leads the Nyakasanga pack.

Shelby and I will be donating a print to help raise funds for this incredible cause. We hope one of our lovely prints finds its way into your home and hearts and contributes greatly.

I am off to one of my favorite places in the until the end of the month. My camera is going to be working overtime so stay tuned for all the great pictures and content to follow.

Over 40 degrees Celsius and abundant tsetse flys this is not a place for the faint hearted, but well worth it to be immersed in the wilds of the daily struggle that surround this spring.

This male is one of a coalition of three, he stands looking across a shallow creek at a lioness trying her best to hide her new cub.

As a professional guide I often experience a rollercoaster of emotions, will these three kill the cub ? Are they simply watching over the pair ? Will the mother defend her cub and risk her own life ? All these things run through my head as I watch this wildlife and over many years grow fondly attached to the different individuals in each national park I work in.

Fingers crossed this afternoon that it is a happy ending.
