Today, young farmers in Nyanga District came together for a Field Day hosted by horticulture farmer Jennifer Mutseka in Ward 13. The Field Day provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, learning, and collaboration among farmers.
Jennifer showcased her NuA45 bean project and shared practical insights on crop management, highlighting the importance of using recommended seed varieties and following proper planting and management practices. She also acknowledged the technical support received from Agritex supervisors in guiding her project.
“Young people are struggling with bean production because they are reusing crops instead of purchasing the recommended seeds, such as NUA45, and not following the necessary steps when planting and managing the crop.”-Masona Florence, Agricultural Business Advisory Officer
Field Days like these continue to play a key role in empowering young farmers with the skills and knowledge needed to improve productivity and strengthen agricultural practices within their communities.

Reflections coming out of the Data for Governance Alliance (D4GA) Continental Convening in Ghana show a strong push towards using data as a tool for accountability, not just reporting. There’s a clear focus on learning from past gaps, strengthening collaboration, and making governance systems more inclusive and responsive, also ensuring that young people are not just present in the conversations but actively shaping them.

“Social identity and cultural norms create additional barriers to youth entrepreneurship, particularly for young women. They often face discrimination when accessing credit, negotiating deals, and working in male-dominated fields such as construction and renewable energy. These biases diminish their confidence and limit their opportunities, making it more challenging to start or sustain businesses.”
This is one of the realities highlighted in our report “Beyond Hustle: Youth Entrepreneurship and the Green Jobs Future in Africa.”
Addressing these barriers requires expanding inclusive, youth-friendly financing and equipping young women with the tools and confidence to access and manage investment opportunities.

We are currently at a Linking and Learning Workshop, bringing together young people, parents, and representatives from youth-led organizations and religious organizations.
Conversations are unfolding around positive masculinity, with participants highlighting how gender-transformative intervention sessions have contributed to meaningful behavior change among young adolescents.
We are also exploring the impact of gender-based violence on young people, creating a safe space for dialogue, learning, and collective action.

We talk a lot about holding duty bearers accountable … but how often do we turn that lens inward?
