Friendship Bench Zimbabwe is an evidence-based mental health intervention. We provide free talk therapy. We are a member of the Friendship Bench global network.

Friendship Bench provides free mental health and psychosocial support for people struggling with mild to moderate mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. Working with community health workers trained in problem-solving therapy and behavioural activation we are bridging the mental health treatment gap in Zimbabwe and beyond. The talk therapy intervention is accessible at primary care clinics as well as via WhatsApp so it is widely accessible.

For too long, myths have kept men suffering in silence. The truth is that mental health challenges can affect anyone and seeking support shows courage not weakness.

Let us replace Stigma with Understanding and Myths with Facts. πŸ’š

Many young men carry the weight of expectations silently. The pressure to succeed in school, support their families and to set an example as the male child, can sometimes be overwhelming.

Yet many choose to suffer in silence fearing they will be judged, misunderstood or labelled if they speak about their struggles. But no one should have to carry that burden alone. Speaking up is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength. πŸ’š

Reach out to us today, and get the mental health support you need.

Too many men are suffering in silence.

When life becomes overwhelming, drugs and substances may seem like an escape but they solve nothing. They often deepen the struggle and make it harder to find a way out.

Choose conversation over silence, choose support over suffering alone and above all choose hope.

Reach out to Friendship Bench today and let’s talk about it. πŸ’š

Behind a lot of smiles are battles no one sees.

Too many men are carrying pain, stress, disappointment and loneliness in silence because they fear the discrimination that comes after they open up.

Let us create an environment where men feel safe to open up about what they are facing because what they are going through matters, their feelings matter and above all their lives matters.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and in need of someone to talk to, please reach out to us today πŸ’š.

We were honoured to be part of the first Her Miles Run yesterday, a powerful celebration of women's strength, resilience and wellbeing. πŸ’šπŸ‘Ÿ

The event provided a platform to connect with women from different backgrounds, raise awareness about the importance of mental health and reaffirm our shared commitment to creating communities where every woman feels seen, heard and supported.

A big thank you to Wellness Without Limits for inviting us to be a part of this great event!

As we continue commemorating Mental Health Awareness Month this May, we remain committed to strengthening community mental health systems through collaboration and partnership. πŸ’š

This month, we successfully held a sensitisation meeting with Bulawayo City Council Mental Health Nurses from 3 districts to strengthen referral pathways and enhance mental health service delivery at primary healthcare level. The meeting brought together key stakeholders including the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, the Provincial Mental Health Officer and the Deputy Mental Health Officer.

Together, we explored ways to improve coordinated care for clients and strengthen access to quality mental health support within communities.

From a Friendship Bench at Western Triangle clinic in Harare Zimbabwe, to the global stage in Belgium πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡ΌπŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺ

One of our incredible Friendship Bench grandmothers, Gogo Sheba proudly stood alongside the team to receive the KBF Africa Prize. For years, our grandmothers have offered a listening ear, created safe spaces and gave hope to over a million people across communities in Zimbabwe.

Seeing their work recognised on an international stage is a celebration of compassion, resilience and the impact of human connection. This moment belongs to every grandmother who continues to change lives, one conversation at a time.
