👶🏽💗 Is your baby feeling okay? Knowing what to look out for can help you spot changes early.

Here are a few simple checks you can do at home:

🌡️ Temperature — Use a digital thermometer to check for fever. For babies under 3 months, a temperature of 38°C or higher needs prompt medical attention.

🍼 Feeding — Notice whether your baby is feeding normally. Poor feeding, refusing feeds or repeated vomiting can be signs that something may be wrong.

💧 Wet nappies — Keep an eye on how often your baby wets their nappy. Fewer wet nappies than usual can be a sign of dehydration, especially when accompanied by poor feeding.

💨 Breathing — Watch your baby’s chest and tummy while they breathe. Struggling to breathe, grunting, very fast breathing or a bluish/grey colour around the lips requires urgent medical attention.

👀 Alertness — Your baby should have periods of normal alertness and responsiveness. Being unusually sleepy, difficult to wake, floppy or less responsive should not be ignored.

💗 Skin & appearance — Look for unusual paleness, blue/grey skin or lips, or significant changes such as increasing yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Remember, these checks can help you notice changes, but they cannot replace professional medical assessment. If your baby seems seriously unwell or something doesn't feel right, seek medical care promptly.
