Jesus: My Ebenezer

Meaning of the word:
Eben (stone) and Ezer (help).
Ebenezer - Stone of help

Samuel set up a stone and named it "Ebenezer" as a memorial for Israel's victory. Samuel then declares "Thus far the Lord has helped us," saying the Lord helped me then, and He will continue to help me.

To be alive today is God's grace, to be able to walk, drink, talk its God. To be born free, to have parents, to have guardians even to have someone caring for you, siblings and friends. To have a place to sleep, or if you can eat a hot meal; there is a lot you can look at about your life and see God's Grace.

Just say in your heart right now, "Ebenezer".

Thank God for His continued Grace and rejoice that the Lord loves you.

Was Isaac a type of Christ?

Isaac's life—specifically his miraculous birth and his submission to his father's will—serves as a prophetic "picture" of the life and work of Jesus Christ.

God made a promise to Abraham, that his offspring will have the land of Canaan. (Genesis 12:7). Abraham, Isaac, Jacob all lived in tents (Hebrews 11:9). So the promise God made, was really not to Isaac or to Jacob, it was to Jesus Christ... Galatians 3:16.

THE PROMISE:
Isaac was born of a promise to Abraham and Sarah, where Sarah was of old age and couldn't conceive>
Jesus was born of a Promise to Joseph and Mary, where Mary was still a virgin.

THE ONLY SON
Isaac was regarded as Abraham's only son as mentioned in Genesis 22.2
(God tells Abraham, "Take your son, your only son, whom you love")
Jesus is God's "only begotten Son" as mentioned in John 3:16

THE CROSS
Isaac carried the wood for his own sacrifice up Mount Moriah (Gen 22:6), just as Jesus carried his own cross to Golgotha (John 19:17).

THE SACRIFICE
Abraham told Isaac, "God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering" (Gen 22:8).
Jesus is the lamb of God, "Behold, the Lamb of God" (John 1:29).

In the Book of Genesis chapter 1, there is a powerful verse that says: “Let us make mankind in our image.”

Normally we interpret it as God making Adam in FLESH in the likeness of God, but John 4:24 says God is Spirit...

Now since God is Spirit and does not have a physical body, being made in "His image" is not about physical appearance. We are like him, being the Spirit.
God gave humans a spirit capable of communicating with Him.
Animals have biological life, but only us humans have the ability to worship God.

Secondly, God making mankind in His likeness, He made Man and Woman at the same time. No gender was created first and another last (In spiritual terms).

But then in Genesis 2, the story zooms in. God forms Adam from the dust of the ground and breathes into him the breath of life. In Genesis 1, God speaks. In Genesis 2, God touches. He forms. He breathes.

So were we created in His image, or formed from dust?
BOTH!!!

So live like it. Live like someone who knows you're made of a spirit and of dust

Walk in dignity, because you are made in God’s image.
Walk in humility, because you are dust.
And walk in power, because in Christ—you are being made new.

This verse teaches us that God doesn’t want us to be extreme in our righteousness or our wisdom, because that can lead us astray. He also doesn’t want us to be extreme in our wickedness or our foolishness, because that can separate us from Him. He wants us to live a balanced life that honors Him and blesses others.

Contentment is a state of being satisfied and fulfilled with what we have, rather than constantly seeking more. It helps us to appreciate and be grateful for what we have, and to focus on the positive aspects of our lives rather than on what we lack. It also allows us to be at peace with ourselves, with others, and with God.

Simplicity encourages us to let go of materialism and to live a life of moderation, contentment, and mindfulness. It helps us to prioritize our needs over our wants, to appreciate the simple things in life, and to reduce our dependence on material possessions.

This day is about reflecting on the gift of salvation that we have received through faith in Jesus Christ. It is a reminder that our salvation is a free gift of God's grace, and that we cannot earn it through our own efforts or good deeds.
