This infamous walk is rumoured to have police and soldiers luming in the bushes hoping to arrest anyone attempting to illegally cross the border. When encountered with, they tend to want money and the worst case scenario would be getting beatings or being detained, which is common with Zimbabwean law enforcers.

The thought of my mother having one breast was enough pressure to adhere to these myths, regardless of the absurdity of it all. I think the logic behind it all can be pardoned, it comes from a good place.

When walking backwards you are most likely to fall into a pit, knock something over or worse get hurt. Like a saying I heard a lot growing up " is'phundu asilamehlo" meaning the occiputs has no eyes.
