Joy and celebration as Young Africa holds first graduation ceremony in Beitbridge

A jubilant atmosphere filled the Kingdom Light Global Church auditorium in Beitbridge today as 430 graduates, parents and stakeholders gathered for the Young Africa 2026 First Graduation Ceremony.

At least 76% of the trainees who took part in the six months course were female with young boys making up the 24%.

Ululations, smiles and proud embraces marked the milestone event as young Zimbabweans celebrated the successful completion of their vocational training programmes under the Young Africa initiative.

Families and guardians beamed with pride capturing the special moments while stakeholders applauded the determination and resilience shown by the graduates throughout their training journey.

The Young Africa Zimbabwe Skills to Live Project was launched in Beitbridge in September 2025 under the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, with support from the International Organization for Migration.

The initiative targets young people aged between 18 and 35, equipping them with practical vocational skills in various trades to enhance employment prospects and promote entrepreneurship.

Today’s ceremony not only marked the end of training for the graduates but also the beginning of new opportunities as they step confidently into the world of work and business.

Businessman shoots wife, self dead

BEITBRIDGE businessman popularly known as "Fatso or Mr Grocery" on Wednesday night shot his wife dead before turning the gun on himself.
The incident believed to have happened at around midnight at their rented home at 1004 Medium Density Surburb Beitbridge opposite entertainment venue PaGomba on the highway leading out of Beitbridge to Bulawayo and Harare....more to follow
