HAPPY WORLD INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FORESTS - 2026
Today, as we commemorate the 2026 international day of forest, we are reminded that forests are not just trees they are life itself.
The 2026 theme calls us to reflect deeply on the relationship between forests and sustainable livelihoods. Forests feed us, heal us, shelter biodiversity, regulate our climate, and quietly sustain millions of lives, especially in rural communities. Yet, every day, they are under threat from deforestation, unsustainable agriculture, and human neglect.
At Green Nature, we believe that protecting forests is not an option it is a responsibility. A responsibility to future generations. A responsibility to the environment that sustains us. And a responsibility to ourselves.
We cannot talk about development while destroying the very ecosystems that make development possible. True progress is green, inclusive, and sustainable.
Let this day not end as a celebration, but as a turning point:
🌱 Plant a tree
🌱 Protect what remains
🌱 Educate one person
🌱 Support sustainable practices
Because when forests thrive, humanity thrives.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Green Nature welcomes proposed member motion to be submitted by Member of Parliament for Kanchibiya Hon Sunday Chanda - Kanchibiya MP on the Establishment of Environmental Court to Strengthen Environmental Justice.
Solwezi 17/02/2026 — Green Nature strongly welcomes the proposed establishment of a specialized Environmental Court to address and adjudicate environmental cases with the urgency, expertise, and seriousness they deserve.
As environmental degradation, climate change impacts, illegal mining, deforestation, pollution, and biodiversity loss continue to threaten communities and ecosystems, Green Nature believes that the creation of a dedicated Environmental Court marks a critical step toward strengthening environmental governance and accountability.
For years, environmental cases have often faced delays within overburdened judicial systems, limiting timely justice for affected communities and weakening enforcement of environmental laws. A specialized court will ensure that cases involving environmental protection, land use, climate responsibility, and natural resource management are handled by trained judicial officers with specific expertise in environmental law and science.
“The establishment of an Environmental Court represents a turning point in the protection of our natural heritage,” said Executive Director of Green Nature. “Environmental crimes are not minor infractions — they directly affect livelihoods, public health, and future generations. Swift and informed judicial action is essential.”
Green Nature emphasizes that an effective Environmental Court should:
✅Operate independently and transparently.
✅Be accessible to affected communities
Include judicial officers trained in environmental law and science.
✅Impose deterrent penalties for environmental violations.
✅Promote restorative justice and environmental rehabilitation.
The organization further urges policymakers to ensure adequate funding, technical capacity, and enforcement mechanisms to make the court fully operational and impactful.
Green Nature remains committed to working collaboratively with government institutions, civil society, and communities to promote sustainable development, environmental accountability, and climate justice.
Environmental protection is not optional but it is foundational to economic stability, social wellbeing, and intergenerational equity.
