“The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.” — Ralph Nader
Ended the week with Vision Zambia Initiative Program Coordinators attending a Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Bootcamp at Tifanny’s Canyon in Lusaka, organized by NGO WASH FORUM and SNV under the Water Voices United project.
The goal of the training was to strengthen organisations, making them more sustainable and competitive in the sector, enabling them to compete with larger entities.
Some of the skills participants in this bootcamp gained are:
‼️Gaining practical skills in planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
‼️Networking and learning from real-life experiences.
‼️Strengthening understanding of PMER frameworks and best practices.
‼️Improving reporting standards and identifying challenges and solutions.
‼️ Learning how to develop accurate indicators in the WASH sector.
As an organization, we’re grateful to have been considered for this opportunity and we look forward implementing everything we’ve learnt for the betterment of our catchment Communities and country at large.
The Board and Management of VZI are so proud of our young and vibrant team for successfully completing this bootcamp.
Once again, thank you Zambia NGO WASH FORUM and SNV Zambia for this opportunity.

Earlier this week we took part in the Financial Management Training, held at Tifanny’s Canon, under the Water Voices United Project.
The training which drew participants from CSO’s working in WASH, had modules ranging from Audit Readiness and Legal Compliance to Financial Policies and Procedures as well as Sustainability and Financial Strategy.
As VZI, we are grateful to have been considered for this training and given the platform to expand our knowledge as we grow. The training will also help us improve our internal controls and risk management.
We are even more grateful to NGO WASH Forum and SNV, who are co-funded by European Union and The Danish People’s Aid, for this highly insightful opportunity that will result in better budgeting and planning of our activities.

Training underway!
So grateful for the opportunity to train School Managers, Guidance Counselors and SHN Coordinators from selected secondary schools within Kitwe how to make washable pads.
This skill will then be imparted to their learners so as to reduce class absenteeism and improve menstrual health management.
The training is courtesy of Save the Children Zambia under the Better Health in Schools Project.

When we take care of the environment it takes care of us.
We need a reduction of plastic use even in menstrual products for the sake of our environmental protection.

Menstrual Hygiene Day – May 28
Every year on May 28, the world marks Menstrual Hygiene Day to raise awareness about the importance of menstrual care and the challenges faced by those without access to safe products.
Access to menstrual products is key to helping girls and women manage their periods with dignity, free from shame or stigma. Sadly, many girls still lack these essentials, affecting their education and well-being.
This month, Vision Zambia Initiative aims to support 100 girls in Luyando community with menstrual products and awareness.
We invite well-wishers to support this noble cause in any way they can.
Together, let’s keep girls in school and empowered.

This week we joined other CSO’s in attending the Public Resource Accountability Training organized by GIZ under the EnACT project.
Our first takeaway has been reinforcing the role we play in ensuring communities hold authorities accountable for provision of services especially water, sanitation and hygiene which directly affects women and girls’ health and productivity.
Secondly, the role that we play in fighting corruption in public service delivery and how best we can work with the Anti Corruption Commission.
We are grateful for this insightful platform.
