The Bangweulu College of Nursing in Samfya is mourning the loss of a first year student, Mary Kapungwe. Such painful news has left many of us deeply saddened. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and the entire college community during this difficult time. 😭🙏🏽

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT OUR HISTORY MATTERS

There is no ground called Sunset Stadium in Samfya.

What exists, and has always existed, are:

Chitika Ground was established around 1980 by the then head teacher Mr. Chitika (other names may have faded with time). The work was supervised by young, passionate footballing teachers:

As pupils, we took part in creating this ground near CMML Mission / Access Bank area.
There were no machines involved. We worked with hoes, energy, and commitment — twaleimba ifishinde nenkasu.

It is painful to see history being erased and renamed so easily. Loving a name like Sunset Stadium should not mean killing the true story of a place built by local hands and sweat.

Let us respect and preserve our history for the generations to come.
History should be corrected, not rewritten. 😔📚

The constituency boundaries have changed over time (e.g., split in 1968 into Bangweulu North, Samfya, and Samfya East, with some renamings), Notably, Hon. Scott Matafwali (father of Chifita Matafwali) served during the 1968-1978 gap in related constituencies. Also, Daniel P**e served from 1996-2001 , as Joseph Kasongo retained the seat in 1991 before being defeated in 1996.

Bangweulu (Samfya) is home to Lake Bangweulu, a lifeline for fishing and farming communities, yet its political history is rarely documented. With 2026 elections approaching, knowledge is power. 🗳️
