However, parking space is becoming a serious challenge. Perhaps it's time to consider relocating the Council buildings to a more suitable location and use the current site to create additional parking.

As the town continues to grow, our infrastructure should grow with it.

📷LATEST ON THE MURDER OF SARKODIE: SECOND SUSPECT ARRESTED IN SOLWEZI MURDER CASE- ZP

SOLWEZI– The Zambia Police Service has arrested a second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred on July 10, 2026 in Kimiteto Compound, Solwezi District.

Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi confirmed that Samuel Mupila, 31, of Solwezi was apprehended at 13:00 hours on July 11, 2026 during an intelligence-led operation. He is currently in police custody.

The arrest comes a day after the first suspect was apprehended by members of the public.

The first suspect has been formally identified as Private Kayombo Sakayi, 40, a Zambia National Service (ZNS) soldier based in Solwezi. Mr. Chilabi said Sakayi remains admitted at Solwezi General hospital under police guard after sustaining injuries during his apprehension.

According to police, the shooting incident claimed the life of Sarkodie Chibuye, 25, at his residence in Kimiteto Compound.

Mr. Chilabi said a murder docket has been opened and investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the all incident.

📸JUST IN; SOLWEZI POLICE INVESTIGATE KIMITETO MURDER AFTER MAN SHOT DEAD AT HOME

SOLWEZI-The Zambia Police Service in Solwezi has launched investigations into the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man at his residence in Kimiteto Area.

Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi confirmed that the incident occurred on July 10, 2026 at around 15:30 hours. It was reported to Kyawama Police Station shortly afterward by the victim’s brother, William Chibuye, 30.

The deceased has been identified as Sarkodie Chibuye, 25.

According to preliminary investigations, Chibuye arrived home with two men before neighbors heard a heated argument followed by a single gunshot. The two men allegedly fled the scene, leaving Chibuye with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.

He was rushed to Solwezi General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Members of the public pursued the suspects and managed to apprehend one of them. He has been identified as Kayombo and was found in possession of a Ta**us pistol loaded with ammunition.

Kayombo sustained serious injuries after being assaulted by the crowd. He is currently admitted to Solwezi General Hospital under police guard. Police say he will be charged with murder once his condition stabilizes.

The second suspect remains on the run. Investigations to establish the motive and full circumstances of the killing are ongoing.

The body of the deceased has been deposited in the Solwezi General Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
