We spend so much of our lives trying to escape pain. We pray it away, avoid it, numb it, or pretend it isn’t there. But pain, as Deborah C reflects, is often proof that something is alive. Just like during childbirth or surgery, doctors sometimes look for a reaction, a sign that there is still life, still response, still hope.

Pain is not pleasant. It steals our peace. It shakes our certainty. But it can also refine us. Emotional growth rarely happens in comfort. Character is not built in ease. There are moments when the very thing we wish would disappear is the tool shaping us into something stronger, wiser, deeper.

Maybe pain is not always the enemy; maybe sometimes it is the classroom.

What if it's not about “Why am I feeling this?” but rather “What is this shaping in me?”
