It’s about culture and the quiet collapse of values when love becomes a transaction.

This piece isn’t based on a true story; it’s based on the many false ones people keep telling.
It wrestles with the blurred lines between provision and spoiling, faith and manipulation, romance and responsibility. It’s uncomfortable on purpose. Because comfort never changed anything.

Towards the end of 2023 I spent the two weeks diving deep into Zambian rap, listening through discographies and exploring just how wide and diverse the game really is. The process took a lot of time and, honestly, a lot of energy—so I couldn’t get through every artist I wanted to. That means the list I put together is incomplete.

Still, I wanted to share the 36 rappers I did cover, plus 14 others who I know deserve a place, to make it a solid 50. This is just the beginning—when time and strength allow, I’ll finish the full listen-through and update the list. For now, here’s where the journey has brought me.
