21 June. Mark it, because ZRA isn't moving it for anyone.
Here's what most business owners don't realise: that provisional tax you've been paying in instalments all year, March, June, September, December, was only ever an estimate. 21 June is when ZRA checks your actual numbers against what you estimated.
If you underestimated, you owe a top-up. If you overestimated, you're due a refund or credit. Either way, this is the date that closes out your tax year.
Miss it, and it's not just a "we'll get to it later" thing. Late filing penalties kick in immediately, interest starts running on anything unpaid, and it can hold up your Tax Clearance Certificate down the line which becomes a problem the moment you need it for a tender, a loan, or a contract renewal.
The businesses that struggle most with this aren't the ones who forgot the date. They're the ones who left it until the last 2-3 days, then hit ZRA TaxOnline portal traffic and couldn't file in time anyway.
If your records aren't ready, the time to sort them out is now, not on the 20th.
WhatsApp Setcon today. We'll help you get this filed properly, on time, with no last-minute scramble.

Most Zambian business owners only think about ZRA when there's a letter on their desk.
By then, the problem isn't new. It's just finally visible.
The truth is, compliance issues don't appear overnight. They build quietly with missed filings, incomplete records, payroll that was never properly structured, VAT that was handled "roughly." Month after month, the exposure grows. And because nothing bad has happened yet, it feels fine.
That's exactly when businesses are most at risk.
This week, we're starting something simple. No complicated tax language. No scare tactics. Just an honest look at where most SMEs in Zambia are actually exposed and why the warning signs are almost always already there, long before ZRA gets involved.
If you've ever had that quiet feeling that your business records aren't quite where they should be you're probably right to feel that way. Most businesses we've worked with had the same feeling. They just didn't know where to start.
Start here.

Most business growth barriers come from missing compliance structure, not lack of effort.
One key requirement in Zambia’s formal business system is tax clearance issued through the revenue authority.
Zambia Revenue Authority issues tax clearance certificates after confirming that:
Tax obligations are properly declared
Payments are up to date
Business registration details match filings
Why this matters: • Government tenders require verified tax compliance status
• Private contracts often request proof of tax standing
• Financial institutions review tax compliance before engagement
Without compliance documentation, a business remains operational but restricted from formal opportunities.
The issue is not starting a business.
The issue is building a business that qualifies for systems that distribute opportunity.

Tenders can transform a small business. 💼
But most women-owned businesses miss out, not because they are not good enough, but because their documents are not in order.
Here is exactly what you need to qualify for a government tender in Zambia. 👆
Swipe through all 8 slides and save this post, this is your personal tender checklist.
The 6 documents every tender requires:
1️⃣ PACRA Certificate — proves your business legally exists
2️⃣ ZRA Tax Clearance — proves you have no outstanding tax debts (valid 30 days only)
3️⃣ NAPSA Compliance Certificate — proves your pension contributions are current
4️⃣ NHIMA Compliance Certificate — the one most businesses miss
5️⃣ 6-Month Business Bank Statements — proves financial capacity to deliver
6️⃣ Company Profile — proves you are capable, not just compliant
Miss even one of these and your bid is disqualified regardless of how good your proposal is.
The good news? Every single one of these is fixable. And we help women-owned businesses get tender-ready every month.
DM us TENDER and let's get your business ready for its first, or next government contract. 🚀

This is for every woman who bet on herself. 🌸
The one who started with an idea and a phone.
The one who figured out the finances as she went.
The one who showed up on the hard days
when nobody was watching.
The one who built something from nothing
and made it look easy when it never was.
She didn't wait for the right time.
She didn't wait for someone to give her permission.
She decided.
She built.
She changed her community just by refusing to shrink.
That kind of courage deserves to be celebrated.
Not just in March, but every single month of the year.
To every woman in business reading this:
We see the late nights.
We see the sacrifices.
We see how hard you work to hold it all together.
And we are proud to stand beside you.
At Setcon, we work every day to make sure the back office, the compliance, the bookkeeping, the registrations, the statutory returns, never becomes the thing that slows you down.
Because you didn't build this far to be held back by paperwork.
Happy Women's Month from every one of us at Setcon. 💜

Something I want every woman business owner to read today. 👇
Quick question: Do you know your exact profit from last month?
If you had to answer that right now, could you?
No judgment. Most small business owners can't and it is not because they are bad at business. It is because bookkeeping feels like a task for later. Something to sort out once things slow down. Once there is more money. Once things are more organised.
But here is the truth nobody tells you:
Things will not slow down. And poor records are exactly why things feel disorganised.
I see this every week. A business owner applies for a loan, declined because they have no financial statements. Another misses a tender opportunity because the application required audited books they do not have. Another cannot hire because they genuinely do not know if they can afford to.
Clean books are not an admin task.
They are the foundation everything else is built on.
Here is what they actually unlock:
✔ Loan applications that get approved
✔ Tender eligibility with ZPPA and private buyers
✔ Knowing exactly when to hire and when not to
✔ Paying yourself a proper salary, not leftovers
✔ Real confidence in every business decision you make
You have built something. Protect it.
Give it the foundation it deserves.
DM us BOOKS and we will get your records sorted, no judgment, no jargon, just clarity. 📊
