The Socialist Party President, Dr. Fred M'membe, has warned Zambians against voting for Brian Mundubile and Maccabi Zulu.
According to him, Zambians need to carefully assess these individuals based on how they managed public resources while they were in government.
He argues that people should not make the mistake of believing they have changed. In his view, they are the same leaders whom Zambians voted out of power because of poor governance. Why, then, should the people entrust them with leadership again? Voting for them, would be like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
My question, however, is this... Is Dr. M'membe saying these things out of genuine concern, or out of political convenience, considering that not too long ago he was in an alliance with these very individuals? What was his assessment of them when he chose to work alongside them?🤔
You see, he too, cannot be trusted. He comes across as a political opportunist who is willing to align himself with anyone if it increases his chances of becoming President, even if that means working with individuals he now portrays as symbols of bad governance.
Leaders should be judged by what they say today, and also by the choices they made yesterday. If I were to call it out as it is, he honestly is a huge hypocrite .

Given Lubinda goes RED. The man in PF was largely used to project some semblance of regional balance.
Beyond that, he was never fully trusted with key responsibilities, largely because he is Lozi.
You could clearly see that the man genuinely loved PF, but many within the party never seemed to fully embrace him.
At one point, some even said he could not become PF President because he was supposedly a "foreigner."
Considering all that, awe mayo, he has every reason to join UPND.

Now Miles Sampa is set to endorse President Hakainde Hichilema today after the courts ruled that he was validly elected PF President. The same man he accused of using Robert Chabinga to destroy PF after he got dribbled by his own scholar.
This is Zambian politics. No permanent enemies, no permanent friends.
I can guess the next move will be for Miles Sampa and Chabs International to reconcile and withdraw all the cases they have in the courts. I see Sampa becoming the PF President, Chabs International as his Vice President, and Mr. Ngo'na as the SG, back to the way they were before they started fighting, but this time working under the UPND alliance.

It's election campaign period, but it feels so calm and peaceful.
That's a sign of leadership. That's an indication that there's someone in charge of this sovereign nation.
Many of us seem to take this for granted but it doesn't just happen by chance. It involves a lot of hard work. Today, President HH had a meeting with former defense and security chiefs at State House to tap into their wisdom on how to continue keeping our nation secure and peaceful.
In other countries, noise and tension would have started. And we know a few individuals do not like it that our country is this peaceful because they hate the President and right now are plotting to cause confusion.
Dare not this man. He knows what he is doing. All this consultation is in readiness for your evil plans. You will have yourselves to blame.
God bless our Country 🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲

THE HICHILEMAFICATION OF THE EDUCATION SECTOR IN ZAMBIA
When President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND government took over leadership in 2021, Zambia’s education sector was in urgent need of rescue. Before, we had a government in place that valued caderism more as a centre for national development than education.
From Primary to tertiary, there was a growing culture of treating education as something only for the elites.
Across the country, thousands of children had abandoned school because their parents could not afford fees. Many classrooms had no desks, schools were overwhelmed by teacher shortages, and infrastructure development had slowed in many communities. For many vulnerable families, education had slowly become a privilege instead of a right.
However, from the moment President Hichilema stepped into office, his administration made a bold decision to place education at the center of national development, believing that no nation can develop without investing in its people.
He then introduced the free education policy. Under President Hichilema’s leadership, government removed school fees in public primary and secondary schools, opening doors for millions of children who had previously been excluded from learning because of poverty.
Today, more than 2.3 million children have returned to school as a direct result of the free education policy. Families that had lost hope suddenly saw their children wearing school uniforms again and walking proudly back into classrooms.
For many parents, especially in rural areas and vulnerable communities, free education became more than just a government policy. It became a symbol of hope, dignity, and equal opportunity. The beauty of the free education policy, is that it doesn't only benefit urban communities, but has reached deep into villages and remote parts of Zambia where poverty had denied many children a future. The President calls it the best equalizer.
Orphans, vulnerable children, and girls who had dropped out due to financial challenges were given a second chance in life. In many communities, school enrolment increased dramatically almost overnight.
One of the most significant and visionary steps taken by the Hichilema administration has been the decision to move towards making free education a protected national commitment through the law.
The Hichilema administration recognized that such a transformative programme should not simply remain a temporary policy that can be changed with political transitions, but should become a permanent guarantee for every Zambian child. President Hichilema has demonstrated long-term commitment to protecting the right to education for future generations.
This move seeks to ensure that the millions of children who have returned to school under the free education policy will continue benefiting for many years to come, regardless of future political changes.
As anyone would predict, the increase in school enrolment also created pressure on schools that already faced shortages of teachers. Understanding this challenge, the Hichilema administration launched one of the largest teacher recruitment exercises in Zambia’s history.
Since taking office, government has recruited over 46,000 teachers across the country, creating employment opportunities for thousands of trained but unemployed graduates while simultaneously improving the quality of this free education in schools.
In rural areas where one teacher previously handled several classes, learners are now benefiting from improved teacher-pupil ratios.
President Hichilema’s government also understood that bringing children back to school without improving infrastructure would create overcrowding and compromise learning. As a result, government has embarked on an aggressive infrastructure development programme across the country, with over 3,500 classroom blocks constructed through CDF, even in places that had long been neglected.
In many areas where pupils once learned under trees or in dilapidated structures, modern classrooms are now standing proudly as symbols of development and progress.
One of the most impressive aspects of the education reforms under President Hichilema has been the deliberate decision to procure locally made desks, creating jobs and demand for vocational and skills training. Today, over 1.8 Million desks have been procured and thousands of Zambians have been sponsored for different vocational and skills training programs.
The expansion of the school feeding programme has equally become one of the most compassionate and impactful reforms introduced under President Hichilema’s leadership.
Government recognized that hunger remains one of the major barriers to education, especially among vulnerable children. Today, millions of learners across Zambia are benefiting from school meals provided through the feeding programme.
For many children, going to school no longer simply means acquiring knowledge. It also means receiving a nutritious meal that improves concentration, attendance, and overall wellbeing. In poor communities, the school feeding programme has become a lifeline that is helping to keep children in school while supporting their health and development.
Beyond access to education, the Hichilema administration has also focused on transforming the quality and relevance of what learners are taught in schools. Through curriculum reforms and the introduction of the new education policy framework, government is modernizing Zambia’s education system to prepare learners for a rapidly changing world.
The new curriculum that has introduced forms, places emphasis on practical skills, innovation, critical thinking, digital literacy, entrepreneurship and competence-based learning. President Hichilema’s vision is clear... Zambia must produce graduates who are not only educated on paper but are capable of competing in the modern economy and contributing meaningfully to national development.
What makes these reforms even more remarkable is the political will and commitment behind them. President Hichilema and the UPND government inherited enormous economic and social challenges, yet they chose to prioritize education because they understood that investing in children is investing in Zambia’s future.
Today, across Zambia, the results of these reforms are visible. Classrooms are fuller, schools are expanding, teachers are being recruited and children who once had no hope are dreaming again. Parents who struggled for years to educate their children are now breathing with relief. Communities that once felt forgotten are now witnessing real development in their schools.
The transformation taking place in Zambia’s education sector under President Hakainde Hichilema is more than just policy implementation. It is a national revival.
Today, many public university students are receiving unprecedented bursaries and allowances that were previously withdrawn by the former regime.
All we can say is, thanks Hakainde Hichilema.

GUN POLITICS ENTHUSIAST, FORMER CHAVUMA MP MR. LUMAYI TAKEN TO COURT
The UPND double-adoption dispute in Chavuma has now been taken to the High Court in an effort to stop the former Chavuma MP's adoption and determine which of the two candidates was legitimately adopted.
The people of Chavuma's seemingly preferred candidate, Mr. Kayombo Saviye, last Thursday 28th May, 2026, filed a petition in the High Court against Mr. Victor Lumayi, who allegedly, with the assistance of the now former Council Secretary, Mr. Kangombe, and a seemingly compromised Returning Officer, Mr. Willis Saviye, unlawfully filed his nomination papers to contest for a third term on the UPND ticket.
This development angered many people in Chavuma who, despite reported intimidation by the powerful Lumayi camp who came in with guns and money, chose to rally behind Mr. Kayombo Saviye, who instead of retaliating with violence, opted to pursue the most civilized and lawful avenue for resolving disputes by seeking justice through the courts.
In the petition, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has also been named as a respondent for allegedly facilitating, through its Returning Officer, Mr. Willis Saviye, who is alleged to be Mr. Lumayi's die-hard Cadre, the early filing of nomination papers for the former MP long before the officially scheduled time for the UPND candidate.
The Constitution of Zambia provides for any person to challenge the unlawful nomination of a candidate in the courts within seven days from the date the nomination is filed, and to be determined within 21 days.
What is at stake now is the relationship that the people of Chavuma have enjoyed with the UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema.
"Should Hon. Lumayi appear on the ballot on 13th August, we will have no option but to support whichever other candidate God shows us, painfullly so against President HH's plea to show our love by voting for the UPND candidate," said a voter in Chavuma.
The people's hope now rests with the High Court to save them from what they describe as the powerful 'Pharaoh of Chavuma,' a man they allege has guns and 'tusaka twandalama' as ECL would put it, to easily buy his way through.
Hearing in this Matter has been set for this Wednesday 3rd June, 2026 and Thursday 4th, June, 2026, in Lusaka.
Hon. Lumayi's ten years in office, critics allege, were characterized by divisions, gun violence, and the loss of innocent lives, resulting from his interference in traditional affairs.

THE HICHILEMAFICATION OF AGRICULTURE
Zambia’s maize production has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past three farming seasons, moving from a devastating drought-induced decline to achieving one of the highest maize harvests in the country’s history.
The steady improvement in maize production from the 2023/2024 farming season through the 2024/2025 and now the 2025/2026, reflects the deliberate agricultural reforms and policy direction under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development.
It is often said that the true test of leadership is revealed in times of crisis. Well, we all know that the 2023/2024 farming season was one of the most difficult periods for Zambia’s agricultural sector. The country recorded approximately 1.5 million metric tonnes of maize, a significant decline largely caused by the severe El Niño-induced drought that affected many parts of the country.
Most farming regions experienced poor rainfall distribution, prolonged dry spells, and extremely high temperatures that damaged crops before maturity. Many small-scale farmers suffered heavy losses as fields dried up, while others harvested far below their expectations. The poor harvest created concerns over food security and rising mealie meal prices across the country.
Despite these difficult conditions, the Hichilema administration responded swiftly with measures aimed at preventing a total collapse of the agricultural sector. The government intensified its focus on climate-smart agriculture, irrigation development, and reforms to the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
The government also emphasized the importance of early preparation for future farming seasons by improving the distribution system for seed and fertilizer. One of the major challenges under the previous systems had been the delayed delivery of farming inputs, which often forced farmers to plant late and reduced productivity. The UPND government began restructuring input distribution systems to ensure that farmers received farming inputs before the onset of rains.
Another major policy direction that began gaining momentum during this period was the government’s deliberate effort to create a favorable environment for local fertilizer manufacturing companies. Instead of depending heavily on imported fertilizer, the Hichilema government encouraged investment in local fertilizer production plants , which gave birth to the United Capital Fertilizer Limited and other local manufacturers.
This policy aimed at reducing dependence on costly fertilizer imports, lowering transportation delays, improving fertilizer availability, and ensuring timely distribution of inputs to farmers across the country.
By promoting local production, the Hichilema government sought to guarantee stable fertilizer supply chains and support long-term agricultural sustainability.
The focus on local fertilizer manufacturing was an important foundation for the agricultural recovery that followed. With fertilizer being produced locally, the government has been able to improve efficiency in procurement and distribution under FISP.
Farmers in many parts of the country began receiving inputs earlier than before, allowing them to plant on time and fully utilize the rainfall season. Early planting has significantly contributed to better crop establishment and higher yields.
Did these reforms work or are they workig ? Again, lets look at the farming seasons that followed.
The 2024/2025 farming season saw a major turning point for Zambia’s agriculture sector as maize production dramatically increased from the previous 1.5 to approximately 3.66 million metric tonnes.
The season demonstrated the positive impact of the reforms introduced by the UPND administration. Farmers now had better access to seed and fertilizer, while improved coordination under FISP have enabled inputs to reach many farming communities on time.
Hichilema's policy of treating agriculture as a business also began producing visible results during this period. He consistently encouraged farmers to move beyond subsistence farming and increase production for both local consumption and export markets.
This has motivated many farmers to expand cultivation areas and invest more seriously in farming activities. Confidence grew further as the government signaled willingness to support maize exports once national food security requirements were met.
The 2025/2026 farming season has now become historic for Zambia after the country recorded approximately 4.9 million metric tonnes of maize, the highest harvest ever recorded in the nation’s history.
This extraordinary achievement reflects the cumulative impact of the favorable weather conditions and the continued implementation of agricultural reforms by the Hichilema government.
This transformation witnessed between the 2023/2024 and 2025/2026 farming seasons shows just how Hichilema's strategic policy direction, has significantly improve national food production.
That's the "Hichilemafication" for you. Now Zambia is rising. The target is to reach 10 million metric tonnes by 2031.
CHAVUMA MP’s 'GUN POLITICS' SCARES ELECTORATES AWAY FROM CAMPAIGNS
Many residents of CHAVUMA have vowed to stay away from political campaigns due to growing fears of violence following the confusion surrounding the UPND adoption process.
Chavuma is among the constituencies that have experienced early political tension after both the incumbent MP, Mr. Lumayi, and Mr. Kayombo Saviye emerged with UPND adoption certificates.
The development created uncertainty and heightened emotions among supporters and community members.
However, while electoral officials in other affected areas reportedly acted professionally by allowing the UPND leadership time to clarify the legitimately adopted candidate, the situation in Chavuma took a different direction.
Residents have accused the Returning Officer, Mr. Willis Saviye, and his team of secretly facilitating an early filing of nominations for the incumbent MP, Mr. Lumayi, at around 07:00hrs, well before the officially scheduled 14:00hrs for the UPND candidate.
The move angered many people in CHAVUMA, most of whom had openly hoped for a different candidate to represent the rulling party.
When asked who they wanted, one seemingly frustrated resident said, “Anyone but Mr. Lumayi.”
Tension escalated further when Mr. Lumayi was seen addressing his supporters while carrying a gun shortly after corruptly filing his nominations in anticipation of a strong resistance from the citizens.
Many residents have viewed the act as intimidating and fear-inducing, especially at a time when emotions in the constituency were already high.
As a result, many residents of Chavuma have resolved to stay away from campaign activities for fear of violence and insecurity, saying they will instead wait for the voting day to express their views through the ballot and teach Mr. Lumayi a lesson for imposing himself on them.
Some residents have since reported the matter to the Zambia Police and the Electoral Commission of Zambia, arguing that such actions have the potential to intimidate citizens and undermine their right to freely and peacefully participate in the democratic process.
The tension has also led to the suspension of Chavuma Council Secretary Mr. Kangombe over alleged misconduct related to the same developments, after calls by the citizens to have him removed.
Residents say this is the first time the people of CHAVUMA have been subjected to what many are calling “gun politics” allegedly introduced by Mr. Lumayi.
Mr. Lumayi has been a Member of Parliament for Chavuma for 10 years and is now seeking another five-year term, which would bring his tenure to 15 years.
During his time in office, Chavuma has experienced divisions, bloodshed, and loss of innocent lives, largely attributed to his untamed interference in traditional affairs.
