Life was peaceful when bacteria were just âgerms,â not until Gram staining came along crystal violet trying to stick, iodine locking it in, alcohol deciding whoâs Gram-positive and whoâs Gram-negative, and safranin exposing the ones who couldnât hold on, judging your identification skills like your grade depends on it

CHECK YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE (BP) AT LEAST TWICE A YEARâŠâŠ
Most people only go to the hospital when they are feeling pain or something is clearly wrong. But high blood pressure does not always show pain. It can stay in your body for years, quietly damaging your heart, kidneys, and brain, without you feeling a thing. That is why it is called a âsilent killer.â
You can be walking, working, laughing with friends, and feeling completely fine, while your blood pressure is dangerously high inside. Many people only find out when it is too late, after a stroke, a heart attack, or kidney failure. By then, the damage is already done.
This is why checking your blood pressure regularly matters so much. It does not cost much time or money. A simple check, at least twice a year, can tell you if something is wrong before it becomes a big problem. If your blood pressure is high, your doctor can help you manage it early, through diet, exercise, or medication, before it leads to something serious.
Do not wait until you feel dizzy, get chest pain, or collapse before you think about your blood pressure. Many people who died suddenly from stroke or heart attack had no idea their blood pressure was high. They felt fine, until they were not.
Make it a habit. Twice a year, visit a clinic or pharmacy and get your blood pressure checked. It takes a few minutes, but it can add years to your life.
Your health is not something to gamble with. Check your blood pressure. Know your numbers. Protect your life.

DO THIS TESTS BEFORE YOU PLAN OF GETTING MARRIED
Sickle Cell Test
Sickle cell is often ignored because it doesnât show. You can feel perfectly healthy and still carry the trait (AS). But if two AS carriers marry, every pregnancy carries a 25% risk of a child born with sickle cell disease â a lifetime of pain and complications.
Testing doesnât stop love. It just makes sure love goes in with open eyes, not blind hope.
Get tested. Know your status. Then plan your future.

A woman comes in with missed periods, nausea, abdominal pain. Urine hCG⊠negative.
Hereâs the part that catches people off guard.
A negative urine hCG doesnât always mean ânot pregnant.â It could be too early for the hormone to reach detectable levels, the urine could be too dilute, or and this is the one that worries clinicians it could be an ectopic pregnancy, where hCG levels rise much more slowly. Thatâs why abdominal pain plus a negative pregnancy test is never something we just shrug off.
One test, one moment in time. It never tells the whole story on its own. Follow LabTalk with Isaac, new case every week.

Hello Scientist Isaac, I want to know why a postmortem is done when someone dies in an accident, even though we already know the cause of death. Iâm struggling to understand this please help me.
Under the microscope đŹ how do you differentiate Acute Myeloid leukemia from chronic myeloid leukemia ?

A patient with no known risk factors presents with a persistent cough lasting over 3 weeks, low-grade fever, and unexplained weight loss. The sputum smear for AFB comes back negative. GeneXpert is also negative.
The clinician still strongly suspects TB based on the clinical picture and requests the tests be repeated. Same result: negative on both.
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician, what does a negative smear and negative GeneXpert actually tell you, and what does it not tell you? Whatâs your next step?
Letâs discuss the correct laboratory approach. Share your answer in the comments! đ
