We visited the two women’s groups that Liseli Initiative is empowering in Kazungula with the support of Kitchen Table Charities Trust (KTCT)

What we saw today was more than just chicken coops.

Over the past three weeks, these women have rolled up their sleeves, picked up their tools, and worked together to prepare the infrastructure for their poultry project. One group built their coop from the ground up, while the other took an unfinished structure and breathed new life into it. 🐓🔨

There was something deeply inspiring about seeing the women working on a project that they can truly call their own.

We believe empowerment is not simply about giving people resources. It is about creating opportunities where people can participate, contribute, take ownership, and ultimately become the drivers of their own transformation.

And these women are already showing us that they are ready.

Their commitment, enthusiasm, and willingness to contribute their own labour have given us even greater confidence in what this project can become. Today’s spot check was a powerful reminder that when communities are given the opportunity and the right support, they can build remarkable things for themselves.

This poultry project is still at the beginning, but we see the possibility of income. We see greater independence. We see women gaining confidence and new skills. We see opportunities for their families. And most importantly, we see hope. 🌱❤️

We are excited to announce our new partnership with ReachAll to establish a Girls Glow Club at Lilato Community Centre, creating a safe and empowering space for girls aged 14–16 to learn, connect, grow, and thrive. 💜

Today, we held an engagement meeting with the girls and their parents to introduce the programme, share its vision, and hear their expectations.

The response from both the girls and parents has been incredibly encouraging! 🙌🏾 Their enthusiasm, openness, and willingness to be part of the programme reaffirm the importance of creating spaces where adolescent girls can build confidence, develop life skills, access information, and support one another.

At Liseli Initiative , we believe that when girls are empowered, communities become stronger. 🌱

We are grateful to ReachAll for partnering with us in this important initiative, and we look forward to seeing the Girls Glow Club grow into a vibrant community of empowered, confident, and informed young women.

Liseli Initiative encourages every eligible citizen to participate peacefully, responsibly and with respect for one another. Let us make informed choices, respect the democratic process, and remember that despite our different political choices, we are one people and Zambia is our shared home.

As we vote, let us reject violence, intimidation and hate speech. Let us promote peace, unity and tolerance before, during and after the elections.

Something exciting is happening at Lilato Community Center! Our tailoring and baking classes are underway, and we are encouraged by the enthusiasm, commitment and determination of the participants.

For many of our participants, this is more than just learning how to sew or bake. It is an opportunity to acquire practical skills that can open doors to income generation, entrepreneurship and greater economic independence. 💪🏾

We are seeing participants eager to learn, practice and turn these skills into sustainable livelihoods. With the right support, a skill learned today can become a business tomorrow and a source of income for a family for years to come. 🌱
