At Phoenix Foundation, we see it every day, mothers are the ones holding families and communities together. It’s their love, grit, and quiet sacrifices that get kids to school, keep homes running, and give the next generation a shot at something better.

To every mom out there: thank you. You’re raising leaders, often on little sleep and even less recognition. We see you, and we’re grateful.

Happy Mother’s Day from our family to yours.
💙💛💚

Phoenix Foundation was one of the member organizations that make up the Consortium for Sustainable Development (CSD), a consortium established through the support and collaboration of the Global Fund for Children (GFC).

The Foundation participated in an engagement workshop that brought together key stakeholders, including directorates from the Ministry of Education- Zambia, the Curriculum Development Centre, and the Early Childhood Education Directorate. The workshop focused on strengthening the Indigenous Games Toolkit and exploring effective ways of integrating indigenous games into Early Childhood Education in Zambia.

The Global Fund for Children was represented by its Africa Co-Director, Mr. Bundie Kabanze, whose participation further emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing culturally responsive and play-based learning approaches.

Phoenix Foundation was represented by our Programs Coordinator.

This is more than a program. It’s a pathway out of poverty.

Walk with us as we work to transform lives and empower communities. If you believe in the power of community-led change, this is your moment to be part of something meaningful. Remember, no contribution is too small, $2, $5, or any amount can help us reach and uplift more young people.

IMPACT SHARING | 5 OF 5

Investing in People to Deliver Real Impact

As we reflect on our journey, one thing has remained clear, strong programs come from strong people.

Beyond the work we do in education, health, and livelihoods, we have made a deliberate commitment to continuously invest in our team. Because we believe that to serve communities effectively, we must first build the capacity of those leading the work on the ground.

Over the years, our staff have undergone a wide range of trainings from NGO financial sustainability and financial management, to leadership, governance, human rights, and community-led development. We have also embraced emerging areas such as generative AI in education, alongside practical approaches like play-based learning and career support pathways.

These learning opportunities, supported by partners such as the Ford Foundation through the Weaving Resilience Project, Humentum, Team4Tech, Play Action International, Global Fund for Children, Cultivate and Learning Pockets UK have strengthened our ability to plan, manage, and deliver impactful programs.

What this means is simple, we are not just passionate, we are prepared.

We have built a team that understands accountability, values transparency, and has the skills to design and implement projects that respond to real community needs. From managing finances responsibly to delivering innovative learning programs, our capacity continues to grow with every opportunity we embrace.

Because at Phoenix Foundation, we don’t just invest in projects, we invest in people who make those projects work.

And that is why we are confident in our ability to deliver lasting, meaningful impact.

IMPACT SHARING | 4 OF 5

Building Strong Minds, One Young Person at a Time.

As our work grew, we began to notice something deeper.

Even when young people were back in school, many were still struggling silently with stress, peer pressure, family challenges, and uncertainty about the future. Some turned to harmful coping mechanisms, while others simply withdrew.

We knew they needed more than support… they needed a safe space.

That is how our Mental Health and Resilience Club was born... (Thrive Youth Club)

We brought together both in-school and out-of-school youths creating a space where they could come as they are, speak freely, and feel heard. Through regular, structured sessions, young people are learning how to manage their emotions, build resilience, support one another, and develop healthy ways of coping with life’s challenges.

But what makes this initiative truly powerful is what happens beyond the sessions.

The young people themselves are becoming change-makers.

They are taking what they learn and sharing it with their friends, families, and peers, becoming mental health ambassadors in their schools, homes, and communities. Slowly but surely, they are breaking the silence around mental health, reducing stigma, and influencing others to choose healthier paths.

Today, the club is more than just a program.

It is a movement of young people supporting each other, standing up for their wellbeing, and leading change from within.

Because when you empower a young person with the right tools, you don’t just change one life, you create a ripple effect across an entire community.
