THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION HAS NOTED WITH SADNESS THAT MANY LEARNERS’ IN THE COUNTRY , END UP ON THE STREETS DUE TO LITTLE OR LACK OF INFORMATION ON CAREER GUIDANCE.

MINISTER DOUGLAS SYAKALIMA WHO WAS REPRESENTED BY DIRECTOR RESPONSIBLE FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION Charm Kalimbika SAYS VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE PLAYS A VERY IMPORTANT ROLE IN A LEARNER’S LIFE AS IT HELPS THEM CHOOSE AN OCCUPATION, PREPARE FOR IT AND ALSO PROGRESS IN IT.

MR KALIMBIKA SATATED THAT THIS WILL NOT ONLY FACILITATE LEARNER TRANSITION FROM LEARNING TO EARNING,BUT WILL ENSURE THAT LEARNERS ARE GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURSUE CAREER CHOICES ALIGNED TO ZAMBIA’S NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES AND CAREER CHOICES THAT CAN HELP YOUNG PEOPLE TO THRIVE IN A 21ST CENTURY ECONOMY AND CONTRIBUTE MEANINGFULLY AT ALL LEVELS OF DEVELOPMENT.

HE WAS SPEAKING TODAY DURING THE CAREER EXHIBITION UNDER THE THEME “PUPIL EMPOWERMENT THROUGH EFFECTIVE CAREER GUIDANCE SERVICES”.

HE SAYS THE MINISTRY IS WORKING TIRELESSLY TO RESOLVE THE CHALLENGES STATING THAT TO THIS END, THE MINISTRY HAS ENSURED THAT POSITIONS OF DISTRICT GUIDANCE COORDINATORS ARE ACTUALIZED AND THAT GUIDANCE TEACHERS WORK ON FULL TIME BASIS IN PROVIDING NECESSARY GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING SERVICES TO THE LEARNERS.

FURTHER NOTED THE NEED TO CONTINUE WORKING TOGETHER IN PROVIDING THE NECESSARY CAREER INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE TO THE PUPILS AT AN EARLY STAGE.
