I have checked on the list and my name has been left out again. Not for the first time, not for the second time but a number of times. They say patience is a virtue, but after over six years of waiting, it becomes a test of character. It isn't always easy to keep the faith when your own door remains closed. But even in the waiting, I’ve realized that my personal delay doesn't mean the system isn't working for others.

In the spirit of fairness, we must give credit where it is due. Since 2021, the landscape of our civil service has shifted in a way that is truly unprecedented in the history of Zambia. I am not being political, I am being observant. Before the current administration led by president Hakainde Hichilema took office, mass recruitment was a rare fairytale we only heard about. Today, it is a reality. From 2021, the current administration has deployed over 100, 000 civil servants and that should be commended..

I look around and see my former classmates, colleagues, and relatives finally donning their professional uniforms and heading to work. These aren't just statistics, these are people I know. While critics often point to corruption, I see no evidence of it in the lives of my friends. I have seen people get deployed through sheer luck and merit, without knowing anyone in a high office.

Their success doesn't make me jealous, it gives me hope. It proves that the system is finally opening up, and it gives me the confidence to know that when my time finally comes, it will be because the door was truly open for me, too. This is just a temporary setback, not the end of the road. Thank you all for your encouraging remarks, May Jehovah continue to bless you for your kind heart. 🙏☺️
