ZRL, CEAR SIGN MoU TO OPERATIONALISE CHIPATA - MCHINJI RAILWAY LINE

Today, Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) has taken a strategic step by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Central East African Railways (CEAR)/Nacala Logistics - a move set to reignite regional connectivity and unlock massive trade potential across borders.

ZRL reports that this is a revival of opportunity.

The Chipata-Mchinji Railway Line, once a vital artery for cross-border trade, is now firmly on the path to reactivation. With its strategic link to the Nacala Corridor through to the Port of in , this partnership opens a direct gateway to international markets through one of Africa’s most efficient deep-water ports.

The signing ceremony was held at the Landlinked Zambia Conference at Ciela Resort in Lusaka.

What does this mean?

Initial movement of 100,000+ metric tons per month.
