A Message from the Heart of Little Flower R.C. School
Honouring the Legacy of June 16, 1976
Dear Students, Parents, and the Little Flower Community,

Today, we pause to honor Youth Day—a day deeply etched into the soul of South Africa. We look back exactly 50 years to June 16, 1976, when thousands of brave students in Soweto marched against the unjust Bantu Education system and the forced enforcement of Afrikaans as a medium of instruction. Armed only with placards, a desire for dignity, and the pursuit of equal opportunity, those young heroes stood up to an oppressive regime, rewriting our nation's history forever.

Little Flower is a Catholic School which was founded in 1927 by the Irish Sisters. Their purpose was to help the poor black community. The school was originally opened for Xhosa, Coloured and Chinese pupils.
As a Catholic institution guided by our motto, Veritas we remember that true leadership and nobility are born out of standing up for justice, mutual respect, and the common good.

Reflecting on Our Journey

Our own school's history is deeply connected to this narrative. During the dark decades of Apartheid, racial laws segregated and restricted the kind of education open to our communities. Yet, through the grace of God and the resilience of generations before us, we moved from past divisions to a united, non-racial home of learning.

1976 vs. Today

June 16, 1976: Youth fought for the fundamental right to choose their language, their education, and their future.

Today: Our learners walk through our gates freely, studying side by side, building an inclusive South Africa.

Our Charge to the Youth of Today

To our learners: the youth of 1976 fought for the freedoms you enjoy inside your classrooms today. They secured your right to an equal, quality education. Now, the pen is in your hands.

"Your education is a powerful tool. Use it not just to build a career, but to uplift your community, protect the vulnerable, and live out your faith with courage."

Let us keep the flame of the 1976 generation alive by committing to excellence, treating one another with dignity, and valuing the precious gift of learning.

May God bless our youth, guide our minds, and keep our country united in peace.

Happy Youth Day from the Management, Staff, and Learners of Little Flower R.C. School.🌺

A massive, shivering thank you from Little Flower R.C. Primary! 🥶🏐

To Volkswagen PeoplePavilion and loveLife Teams,
We want to send a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU from everyone at Little Flower R.C. School for organizing the KwaNobuhle School Netball event!

Our girls had an absolute blast, even if mother nature decided to turn the netball court into a water park. We are pretty sure some of our shooters were actually doing the breaststroke by the fourth quarter, and we're still trying to figure out if that was sweat or rain on our coaches' faces (let’s go with tears of pride).

Weather aside, your incredible support, energy, and dedication to our youth warmed us all right up. Thank you for braving the elements to create such a memorable day for our players. You are the real MVPs!

⚽ To Our Boys, Bafana Bafana! 🇿🇦

The entire nation is standing behind you except abo “Lamthuthu FC” as you step onto the pitch for the FIFA World Cup opening match! You’ve worked incredibly hard to get here, and now it’s time to show the world the true meaning of shoe shine and South African football magic.

Let’s be honest, we haven’t forgotten 2010. We all remember Siphiwe Tshabalala’s absolute rocket of an opening goal that nearly took the roof off Soccer City, but we also remember Mexico spoiling the party a bit by walking away with a draw, and later making life difficult for us.

Well, boys, revenge is a dish best served on their turf! It’s only fair that since they crashed our opening party in Johannesburg, we go ahead and return the favor right in front of their own fans. Let's silence those mariachi bands and show them how we dance!

Play with your hearts, leave everything on the field, and make us proud.
Bring it home, Bafana! Sikunye nani 🌺
👊🇿🇦
