Intechem Water Purification
Founded in 2006 as Water Purification Solutions, we are now Intechem Water Purification.
With an international reputation for designing, manufacturing, and maintaining water treatment systems, we continue to serve with the same dedication and excellence. Intechem Water Purification (IWP) is a Somerset West based company dedicated to the treatment of water, from various sources such as boreholes, rivers/dams, seawater, and industrial effluent. All water treatment systems are customised

Cooling towers are essential to keeping operations running efficiently, but without the right water treatment, they can quickly become a costly problem.
Scaling, corrosion, algae growth and drift loss don’t just affect performance, they shorten the lifespan of your entire system and drive up maintenance and replacement costs.
That’s where a customised solution from Intechem Water Purification makes the difference.
By designing a water treatment program specific to your system, Intechem helps:
Reduce scale and corrosion buildup
Control biological growth like algae and bacteria
Improve heat transfer efficiency
Extend the lifespan of your cooling tower
Lower ongoing maintenance and replacement costs
The result? A more efficient system, fewer breakdowns and long-term savings for your business.
Smart water treatment isn’t an expense, it’s an investment in your infrastructure.

Coagulation and flocculation are essential processes in effective water treatment, each serving a distinct and critical function within the overall treatment train.
Coagulants work by neutralising the electrical charges of fine suspended particles, allowing them to destabilise and begin forming micro-aggregates. Flocculants then bind
these destabilised particles together, creating larger, heavier flocs that can be efficiently removed through sedimentation or filtration.
When correctly selected and dosed, these processes significantly improve turbidity removal, protect downstream filtration systems, and enhance overall plant performance.
At Intechem Water Purification, we evaluate raw water characteristics to design and optimise coagulation and flocculation strategies tailored to each application and operational requirement.

How prepared is your organisation to maintain operations if municipal or bulk supply becomes constrained?
Water treatment systems, from borehole abstraction through filtration, membrane technology, disinfection and reuse , play a key role in reducing dependency on municipal supply, minimising production disruption, and improving resilience in the face of supply volatility.
At Intechem Water Purification, we partner with businesses to design tailored water treatment and reuse solutions that match operational demands and regulatory quality standards, helping protect processes, people and production when supply challenges arise.

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is one of the most important indicators of water quality, yet it’s often misunderstood.
TDS measures the concentration of dissolved minerals, salts, and inorganic substances present in water. While not all dissolved solids are harmful, elevated TDS levels can impact taste, scaling potential, equipment performance, and overall process efficiency.
Understanding TDS is critical when designing or selecting the right water treatment solution, whether for industrial processes, agriculture, food & beverage production, or potable applications.
At Intechem Water Purification, we assess raw water profiles, including TDS levels, to engineer systems that meet precise operational and regulatory requirements.

Behind every Reverse Osmosis system is a carefully engineered treatment process designed to deliver consistent, high-quality water.
From pre-filtration and membrane separation to post-treatment and storage, each stage within an RO plant plays a critical role in protecting equipment, optimising performance, and achieving the required water quality outcome.
Understanding how these stages integrate ensures that systems are not only effective, but also efficient and sustainable over the long term.
Intechem Water Purification designs and builds RO plants with every treatment phase considered, tailored to the specific water profile and operational demands of each client.

What Matters More, Water Quality or Cost?
Balancing water quality requirements with operational cost is a constant consideration across many industries.
Higher treatment standards often demand more advanced processes, increased energy consumption, and specialised system maintenance, yet compromising on water quality can impact product integrity, equipment lifespan, compliance, and overall operational performance.
Finding the right equilibrium between quality and cost efficiency is where strategic system design and process optimisation become critical.
Intechem Water Purification works alongside clients to develop treatment solutions that align performance requirements with long-term operational sustainability.

Understanding the difference between Reverse Osmosis and Ultra Filtration is key when selecting the right water treatment solution for your operation.
While both membrane technologies play critical roles in improving water quality, their applications, filtration capabilities, and process outcomes differ significantly.
At Intechem Water Purification, these technologies are often engineered into tailored treatment systems to achieve the required performance and efficiency.

Proudly reflecting on one of our successful water treatment projects supplied and installed by Intechem Water Purification (IWP).
IWP manufactured two containerised treatment systems for a new abattoir in Tsabong, Botswana, designed to support water efficiency in a water-stressed region, the two systems included:
• Borehole water treatment to a potable standard – providing safe, compliant water for abattoir production, and operational use.
• Effluent polishing for reuse – a dedicated treatment and filtration system to polish tertiary-treated effluent to a reuse-quality standard for suitable on-site applications.
The project included:
• Containerised, compact, and secure system packaging.
• Advanced treatment technology for effective removal of suspended solids, iron, and microbiology (potable line).
• Pressure boosting to the point of use (PID controlled).
• Monitoring and remote operation for key parameters such as flow, levels, water quality indicators, plant status, and more.
Engineered for performance, reliability, and sustainability, this project highlights IWP’s capability to deliver turnkey water treatment systems tailored to specific operational needs.
