WHAT IS A NATURAL DRAFT COOLING TOWER?
Let's take a closer look at these big structures you have probably driven past atleast once in your life.
A natural draft cooling tower is a type of heat exchanger that cools water by direct contact with air. The hot water is sprinkled from top to bottom and the air flows from bottom to top. This type of cooling tower is usually very tall in order to induce adequate airflow.
Natural draft cooling towers are only used for applications where a large constant cooling is required over many years, thus commonly used in power stations, oil refineries and petrochemical plants.
Advantages of this type of cooling tower includes low maintainance and operational costs, low noise levels and large cooling capacity.
