Great Business Analysts aren't just technically skilled, they are comfortable with ambiguity, they ask the right questions and define problems before solutions are even discussed.

The three fundamentals every BA should lead with are ‘clarity’, ‘communication’ and 'ownership’.

Reflecting on her transition into Business Analysis, Delight found that asking the right questions and engaging with stakeholders is essential to truly understanding the problem that needs to be solved.

“Staying in conversations longer than feels necessary. Writing down things nobody thought to write down and making sure that when people walk away from a meeting, they all carry the same understanding. Communication stopped being a soft skill. It became the whole job.”, Delight.

One of our team members recently embraced an exciting new opportunity by stepping into a Business Analysis role after working as a developer. It’s been inspiring to see her broaden her skill set and take on a new challenge with such enthusiasm.

Delight noticed that as a developer, the problem was handed to her. Her job was to solve it cleanly, logically, completely.

“Moving into Business Analysis meant realising that nobody hands you the problem. You have to find it. Sit with it. Sometimes convince people it's not what they think it is.

That's not a technical skill. It's a different way of thinking entirely. Until you've lived on both sides, it's hard to explain how different it actually feels. The shift isn't from code to conversation. It's from "what do I build?" to "what are we actually trying to fix?", Delight.

Investing in technology starts with investing in people.

Webtonic takes pride in creating opportunities for our team to learn, grow and stay connected to the ever-evolving world of software development.

This year, our developers attended DevConf 2026 in Cape Town where they explored emerging technologies, gained insights from industry leaders, shared ideas with the broader developer community, and deepened their expertise across a wide range of topics from AI and security to software architecture, testing, and developer experience.

The experience reinforced something we strongly believe: continuous learning, curiosity and collaboration are essential to building great software.

Here are key takeaways from the conference :

* AI is Reshaping Development but Human Skills Still Matter
* Curiosity and Continuous Learning Are Essential
* Large-Scale System Change Is Complex and Unpredictable
* Legacy Code Is Inevitable
* Better Debugging Makes Better Developers
* Security Must Be Designed In, not Added Later
* Quality Comes From Testing Early
* Software Is Built for Humans
* Soft Skills Are Engineering Skills
* Build More. Experiment More.

We're proud of our team for embracing every opportunity to learn and grow and we're excited to see how these insights will shape the work we do for our clients and partners.
