Believe it or not, there was once a time when all men would open doors, offer seats and walk on the curbside of a pavement. Low and behold these days are rare, but there is still hope for the dying breed that we call a gentleman.

I list 10 things that differentiate between a man and a gentleman…

1. A man gives orders, a gentleman inspires.

2. A man revels in the attention of all women, a gentleman attracts the attention of many, but only has eyes for his own woman.

3. A man fits the mould, a gentleman tires to break it.

4. A man says all the right things, a gentleman says all the right things and does them too – his deeds follow his word.

5. A man takes the necessary amount of steps, a gentleman takes the extra step.

6. A man lets his mood dictate his actions, a gentleman thinks of the rights and feelings of others rather than his own.

7. A man raises his voice or turns his tone to be heard, a gentleman speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy.

8. A man tries to make his mark and a gentleman strives to leave a mark.

9. A man makes his woman jealous of other women, a gentleman makes other woman jealous of his.

10. A man accepts a favour, a gentleman returns the favour.
