A Short History of Orbit College FC

Orbit College FC, nicknamed "Mswenko boys " (The Pride of the Home), is a South African football club based in Rustenburg, North West Province.

Founded in 2010 and affiliated with the Orbit TVET College, the club plays in black and white colors and calls Olympia Park Stadium (capacity 32,000) its home ground.

The team was established to promote soccer among students and the local community, drawing talent from the province's vocational education scene.

For much of its early years, Orbit competed in the lower tiers of South African football, primarily the ABC Motsepe League (third division).

In the 2017–18 season, the club achieved a notable 7th-place finish in the National First Division (NFD, now GladAfrica Championship) after a brief stint there, and reached the Nedbank Cup's Round of 32, beating TTM FC before falling 0–1 to giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, challenges marked their path, including a violent semifinal incident in the 2022–23 SAFA Second Division where pitch invasions and gunshots disrupted their 1–0 win over Umsinga
United.

That season, Orbit topped the North West Stream A but lost 3–1 to Upington City in the promotion playoffs, securing a spot in the NFD for 2023–24.

The club's breakthrough came rapidly. In the 2024–25 NFD season, Orbit finished strongly and clinched promotion to the Betway Premiership (PSL top flight) by winning the promotional/relegational playoffs, including a historic 1–0 victory over Cape Town City FC on June 25, 2025, which relegated the latter.
Notable alumni include winger Monnapule Saleng, who started at Orbit in the third tier before joining Orlando Pirates in 2021.

As of September 2025, in their debut Premiership season under coach Pogiso Makhoye, Orbit sits mid-table with a 1–0–1 record, aiming to avoid relegation while showcasing provincial talent against powerhouses like Orlando Pirates.

Their journey symbolizes grassroots ambition in South African soccer. 💙💙💙💙

Batswana of North West and Northern Cape: Stand Up!

Batswana ba Bokone Bophirima le Northern Cape, go setse go lekane!

Rustenburg, Mahikeng, Zeerust, Taung, Klerksdorp, Brits,Kuruman,Kathu—OUR LAND, OUR HERITAGE!

For centuries, Batswana have built, farmed, and governed these lands, shaping the North West into a province rich in mineral wealth, agriculture, tourism, and culture. But today, we are witnessing a systematic takeover by outsiders who do not prioritize Batswana, our identity, or our future.

Let’s talk about Rustenburg: The Xhosa Takeover
Batswana in Rustenburg are speaking up—jobs, businesses, and political positions are being strategically occupied by Xhosa people, pushing Batswana out of leadership and influence in their own home.

• Major hiring positions are dominated by Xhosa people who prioritize hiring their own people, while Batswana are sidelined in the job market.
• The goal is clear—they aim to take full control of economic and political leadership in Rustenburg. They are even openly saying that they only need political leadership to be fully Xhosa before they claim total power.
• Yet, if you go to the Eastern Cape, you will NOT find Batswana in high-ranking positions. They protect their own, while Batswana remain too passive.

Where is the urgency from our people?

North West: A Province of Wealth That Batswana Are Losing
Batswana are sitting on a gold mine of resources, yet we are not the ones benefiting. Let’s break it down:

Platinum & Mining Industry – North West is home to the world’s richest platinum deposits. Rustenburg alone produces over 70% of the world’s platinum, yet Batswana are not the ones in charge of this wealth. Foreign investors and other tribes control these resources while our communities remain underdeveloped.

Tourism & Cultural Heritage – Madikwe Game Reserve, Pilanesberg National Park, Sun City—all major tourist attractions on Batswana land, yet who is running the businesses? How many Batswana own hotels, resorts, or game lodges?

Agriculture & Land Ownership – North West is an agricultural powerhouse, with fertile land for farming. But who owns these farms? Why are Batswana struggling for land access while other groups secure ownership?

Motsweding FM: The Final Insult – This is a Setswana radio station, yet some key positions are NOT Batswana. No Xhosa station has a Motswana in leadership. No Zulu station has a Motswana in leadership. But Batswana’s ?

We must ask ourselves: If we were in power, would our communities be struggling this much?

What Can We Do? Solutions for Batswana in North West!

Community Mobilization & Education – Batswana must unite, organize, and create awareness platforms. Let’s educate our youth on the importance of self-preservation.

Economic Ownership & Prioritization – Batswana businesses must support Batswana people. Just as Xhosa, Zulu, and Afrikaans people prioritize their own, we MUST do the same.

Engage Traditional & Political Leaders – We must demand a full audit of economic and political leadership in North West. Who holds the power? Where is the representation of Batswana in government and business?

Land & Business Development – We must push for land audits to expose ownership patterns and fight for Batswana land rights. Why are we losing land in our own home?

Legal & Peaceful Resistance – We are not saying Batswana must fight or become aggressive. We are saying we must WAKE UP and ACT. Peacefully, legally, but POWERFULLY.

We must protect our future, our children, and our home.

A Call to Action: Batswana, WAKE UP!
Enough is enough! We must take responsibility for our land, jobs, businesses, and resources. Every single Motswana must play their part in securing our future. We have been silent for too long.

Tag a fellow Motswana! Share this message! Let’s build a movement that fights for our rightful place in North West!
