Book World Managing Director's interview on radio for the Sandton Community 919 FM this morning covered Modern Philanthropy, Fundraising and Social Impact where started his reflection from a founder's stance - He is quoted saying:
"In the architecture of this officialdom I am just a founder, being a visionary who initiates a new organisation or movement, turning an idea into a reality is not a walk in the park...thanks to the founder mentality I adopted, that speaks to taking the total ownership of all problems and navigating uncertainty"
Book World in the 5 years have impacted 12 365 children accross South Africa, have created income earning opportunities (IEOs) for 283 young people, 80% belonging to the North West province.
Saam Marshall closed the interview with "So Kagiso, what does Book World look like beyond the 5 year milestone"
Rangaka answered: First we will move beyond the founder's dependency. Now- more than ever - Book World SA through its social sector programmes must deliver results, demonstrate they are in the public interest, and produce value for donors, CSI and taxpayer money by undertanding modern philanthropy, fundraising and social impact and harnessing the power of "When We Connect & Collaborate, We Change" to produce strong evidence, incisive performance and dynamic management and learning systems, programmes can be better than ever before achieving our objectives at lower cost and in a sustainable nature.
