Today’s patient: A Volkswagen Golf 6 GTI (2.0 TSI CCZB) with a violent shaky idle and a massive oil leak down by the sump.

The customer came in after a lower timing cover and crank seal job went sideways elsewhere. Connecting the diagnostic tool showed P0011 and P0341 camshaft timing performance codes.

After digging into the lower front block, the culprit was found: The previous repairer fitted the WRONG engine part! They forced a Gen 3 EA888 oil pressure regulation solenoid (N428) onto a Gen 2 motor. It was sitting upside down, completely unseated, and spraying oil straight into the wiring loom.

Got the new lower cover sealed up, fitted the front crank seal, and hooked up a mechanical pressure gauge to confirm structural oil pressure is a healthy 1.3 Bar at idle.
