Joshua Vides, a Southern California artist, is known for his "Reality to Idea" (RTI) technique, which turns real objects into black-and-white, sketch-like illusions. Inspired by cartoons and The Fast and the Furious, he started with hand-painted sneakers before collaborating with brands like BMW and Ferrari, reimagining cars with his signature aesthetic. His recent pop-up exhibition in LA, Check Engine Light, featured three cars wrapped in his monochromatic style, making them appear like comic-strip illustrations. Paying homage to 1990s car culture, the showcase blended art and automotive design, transforming familiar vehicles into captivating, two-dimensional experiences.
