It’s a great activity to do before your sessions, especially handwriting or tabletop activities. 📍This activity comes in black and white and color. The color maybe a little bit more difficult for students. That crawling pattern where one leg is bent and the other stays straight? That is not a cute quirk. That is your child’s nervous system failing to coordinate both sides of their body. What’s actually happening: The amphibian reflex the primitive reflex that teaches your hip and knee to work together never integrated. When your brain lifts one hip, the knee on that side should automatically bend. When it doesn’t, that leg stays straight. The opposite leg compensates. Every time they crawl like this, the brain reinforces the broken pattern. The reflex that should’ve turned off by 9 months stays active. The nervous system programs dysfunction as normal. Fast forward to adulthood: chronic knee pain, hip instability, one leg that always feels shorter, flat footed and bowlegged at the same time.
