Study: Effect of foliar and soil application of plant growth promoting bacteria on growth, physiology, yield and seed quality of maize
Authors: A Efthimiadou, N Katsenios, G Katsaros et al.
The use of plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) as favors the increase of crop productivity and the improvement of yield quality.
The main objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of the PGPB (Azotobacter chroococcum, , megatherium and their mixes) and the application method ( and soil) on the growth, the physiology, the yield and the quality of maize.
The obtained results showed that A. chroococcum treatment increased the chlorophyll content up to 6.1%, the photosynthetic rate up to 18.4% and the transpiration rate up to 34.3%. The highest maize yields were performed by the treatments B. megatherium (244.67 g) and the mix of A. chroococcum and B. subtilis (1:1) (243.67 g) when applied on the soil.
The Soil application of the resulted in increased yield of maize from 5.5 to 13.4% compared to control treatment. Concerning quality characteristics, B. subtilis treatment increased total solids content in harvested maize seeds by 92%, as well as crude fiber content by 46% compared to control. The results confirmed that the use of PGPB could contribute as a new cultivation practice for sustainable growth, productivity and quality of grain crops.

Donβt panicβΌοΈ, but youβll need more than just organic!β»οΈ
If maximum genetic potential = 100, stresses destroys the production potential despite your best efforts or even, in some cases, because of our βbestβ efforts ;)
Max genetic potential: 100 - stress = 60? 40? 0=π?
The effects of stress can lead to deficiencies in growth, crop yields, permanent damage or death if the stress exceeds the plant tolerance limits.
Stresses like:
β’ wind π¬π¨
β’ heat ππ₯΅
β’ cold/frost π₯ΆβοΈ
β’ drought π§π«
β’ too much water π¦π¦
β’ oxidative stress π«
β’ nutrient deficiency π«
β’ excessive nutrients (toxicity) β οΈ
β’ salinity π§ etc.
ExploGrow microbes are able to prevent plants from entering into stress mode prematurely. ππ
As discovered in the lab test.
β-Report belowββ
Image:
1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase reduces the levels of ACC.
ACC is a precursor for ethylene which is a plant stress hormone.
The microorganisms in ExploGrow are able to use ACC as a sole nitrogen source and are able to reduce the ACC levels in the plant.
β-end of reportβ-
Therefore: Stop the stress before it happens!
