Runs & Roses
We're a just a bunch of fellas (and lady) that go out on the occasional weekend and pretend to play cricket.
There's more runs in our name than on the field, but a great time is had everytime.
Runs & Roses are proud to be apart of this great collection of cricketing individuals and teams. We welcome and encourage any new competition and friendships that come along in the future.

4th November 2018
Game 3 of the season and we clocked in our first win.
Playing against another of our favourite opponents, YCA 2nd XI.
Always a pleasure to see the talent coming up and always a great bunch of lads and their dads that join us on the field.
With YCA winning the toss and taking a bat first, they racked up 99/6 with us restricting them to 34 after 10 overs, YCA did a great job getting near 100.
We went in slow aswell, but once we hit a groove, we rode to the end and reached the target in 15.4 overs, winning by 6 wickets.
Once again, great Sunday spent out on the field.
And as you can see in the pic, we've started scouting the next generation of Runs & Roses players. ;)

7th October 2018
The 4th Season of Runs & Roses has begun!
In a game against one of our favourite opponents, Aspen, our first game of the 2018 Heatherbank Corporate Cricket Summer League was a great advert the game.
We put 123 on the board, with Matt and Poovi putting on an unbeaten 59 runs together and the lower order taking us a very defendable total.
In a chase that had both teams ahead 2 or 3 times, it came down to Aspen needing 5 in the last over. Danie got 2 wickets in 3 balls to swing it back our way, but Aspen were up to the task got the total with 2 balls to spare
A loss for the Roses, but a great day of cricket had.
Til next time.

Some the Roses, with some additional talent, got together this evening to prep for our Semi final this weekend.
We're gonna give those 14 Yr olds hell on Sunday 😂🤣
The 4th quarter-final of the 5th Division Winter League 2018 was a cracker.
Aspen went in to bat, after a good start, there was an LBW appeal (Bennie said Not Out),but we managed to slow their rate down a bit, there was an LBW appeal (Bennie said Not Out)
Matt, who arrived late, made the double break through in his first over to turn the tide of the game (Neither being LBW) . However, just when we were looking to keep Aspen too a low total, they tore into our bowlers in the final overs, posting 122/8. There was an LBW appeal (Bennie said Not Out).
We started with a steady partnership up front, there was an LBW appeal (Bennie said Not Out). Aspen then started restricting the boundaries, there was an LBW appeal (Bennie said Not Out). After a quick couple of wickets (Neither being LBW), the boys picked up the pace and we ended up with our highest ever successful run chase, ending on 125/3.
3rd match against Aspen
2nd Season of Corporate Winter League Cricket
9 Corporate Winter League Matches
1 win
A great effort from the team, and it us the opportunity to be able to pay more money to play more cricket.
👍🏻
Well.
The Heatherbank Corporate Winter League 2017/18 Round Robin games are done and dusted.
Runs & Roses played some great cricket, however our opponents played greater cricket.
We kitted up against Oasis BitClub, Tigers and Dads & Lads, in Pool A of the 5th Division.
The results were as follows:
Oasis BitClub - lost by 9 runs
Tigers - lost by 8 runs
Dads & Lads - lost by 4 wkts
In our 2 Winter League campaigns, we've yet to win a game, out of 8 😂 if nothing, we're consistent. Atleast our Summer League record is a bit better
However, even losing all of our matches, we qualify for the Quarter Finals by finishing 1st, from the bottom. The fact that all teams automatically qualified for quarter finals might have played a part in it.
So, as great captains normally say..
"We've just got to treat each game like it's a knockout game" because, well, they are all knockout games from here on out.

Season 2 done and dusted.
Our inter-team get together was well attended.
Thanks to everyone who has made Runs & Roses what it is today.
And thanks to all those that helped make today happen.
From everyone at Runs & Roses, we'd like to congratulate, Yet To Be Named, on winning the Heatherbank Cricket Club Corporate Summer League 5th Division.
Well played, but we will see you again. 😉

We took on the YCA 2nds today in what turned out to be a scorcher on the field.
Winning the toss, we elected to field first.
With the pitch still being quite damp from the rain the previous few days, YCA struggled with a pitch that the subcontinent wish they could prepare 😂, eventually doing well to get to 101/9 in their 20 overs. Some great bowling by the team with Danie taking 3 for 9 runs and Charl taking 2 for 5 runs.
Once we came into bat, the pitch had started behaving a bit better and we reached the total pretty smoothly in 14.3 overs, ending on 105/5. Matt retiring on 30, Ridwaan and Charl both going passed 20 and the always aggressive Ryan, finishing it off at the end.
Another great game out for the R&R, now we look forward to the semi finals and beyond, as we try to get into the 4th division for next season.
