Well done to young changemaker, Kirsten Blom for completing the London Marathon and raising £710 for the Calabash Trust!
We are so grateful for this amazing contribution # # #
Kirsten is one of Reed's School students who took part in the annual Reeds Grassroots Project at Charles Duna Primary School facilitated by Calabash in Port Elizabeth.
Kirsten shared skills teaching, coaching, building, gardening and painting to support Primary Schools in the townships. Her experience in the schools impacted her so much it further inspired her to support our work in the socially and economic deprived communities of the city.
Thank you!

My role as an educator shaping democratic schooling — this was the theme of an exciting collaboration held last week between our visiting Sheffield Hallam University students and our local undergrad teaching students from Nelson Mandela University.
Facilitated by Prof Logam Athiemoolam, using drama and arts to humanise pedagogy, an alternative effective lens through which to view the world.
Great engagement around diversity, inclusiveness, position, power, teaching styles and remembering the learners' voices in a classroom setup.

Wishing Nomonde Ntsundwana all the best this week as she journeys to Hogsback to learn more about essential oils and the production thereof. This has been a longtime dream of Nomonde and the Seyisi eco buddies to run their own essential oil production.
Pictured here is their school nursery built by Reed's School students and the garden supported by TRY Ecosystems.

Gone but never forgotten🌿🌿 Today we take a moment to remember the life of Paul Miedema, co founder of Calabash Trust and Calabash Tours, comrade, father, brother, son and dear friend. We miss his sarcasm and political banter. His spirit lives on 😊
