What can go in your bucket? 🌱🥕🪣

This Father’s Day, we’d like to celebrate all the dads and father figures in the OBSID team and broader Observatory community 💙

Many of the people working behind the scenes to help keep Obs clean, welcoming, and running smoothly are fathers themselves — balancing long days of service with caring for and supporting their families at home.

To all the father figures helping make Observatory a place of connection and belonging: thank you for the role you play, big and small.

Happy Father’s Day from OBSID

Cape Town is full of food gems, but one neighbourhood is quietly stealing the spotlight... Observatory is fast becoming one of the city’s most vibrant and unpretentious dining destinations. Along Lower Main Road, you’ll find a lively mix of student energy, alternative culture, and a food scene that doesn’t try too hard, and that’s exactly the point.

From Ethiopian dishes and bold global flavours to contemporary farm-to-table dining, live music with your coffee, standout sushi, and wine-paired tasting menus, Obs offers something for every kind of appetite (and budget).

No fuss. No pretence. Just real food, real character, and a neighbourhood worth spending time in this weekend! See you there?

All donations help support trusted local organisations providing meals and care in our community, including Healapalooza, Pasta Kitchen, Obs Can Feed You, and Loaves and Fishes.

📍 Drop-off point: 13 St Michaels Street
🕗 Office hours: 08:00 – 16:00
After-hours drop-offs can be arranged via the Control Room.

Every item donated helps restore dignity, warmth, and hope where it’s needed most.
