You could first ask 4 groups of learners to shade the multiples on different sheets of paper then get the class to discuss the patterns that they see. They could then do this Sieve activity on a 1 to 100 squares. Those who complete the task quickly can do the same on a 1 to 200 grid.

This is an activity for young children. You can ask some of the following questions. What is special about the squares with no decoration? How are the decorations connected to the multiplication tables for 2, 3, 4 and 5?
