The Suzuki GSX-R 1000 could return in 2025
Since its debut in 1985, the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 established itself as an icon in the world of sports bikes. Due to its power, technology and design, it became one of the cult superbikes. Why was the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 discontinued?
The disappearance of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 was a direct consequence of the Euro5 regulations implemented in 2020. These rules required significant reductions in emissions, and adapting a model so focused on performance to the new standards was unfeasible at the time. In addition, Suzuki chose to reorient its business strategy, leaving aside high-displacement supersport motorcycles to focus on more accessible and profitable segments.

Other brands such as Yamaha are going through similar times with their high-end sports bikes. The house of the three tuning forks will stop producing the legendary R1 based on the new regulations. EICMA 2025 is shaping up to be the chosen stage for this big announcement. The Milan fair, known for being the epicentre of the latest developments in the world of motorcycles, could be the perfect time for Suzuki to present a completely renewed GSX-R 1000.
