The transportation of the Bullwinkle jacket, one of the tallest offshore structures, was a remarkable engineering achievement. Measuring over 1,400 feet tall and weighing 49,375 tons, the jacket was built at Gulf Marine Fabricators in Ingleside, Texas. It was loaded onto a specially designed barge measuring 853 feet in length, which was the largest barge of its kind at the time. The structure was carefully skidded onto the barge to ensure balance and stability for the journey.

Powerful tugboats were used to tow the barge 332 nautical miles to its destination in Green Canyon Block 65 in the Gulf of Mexico. The towing operation required precise coordination to maintain stability and avoid any mishaps during the multi-day journey. Advanced ballast systems were employed to counteract the weight of the jacket and to stabilize the barge in varying sea conditions.

CONSTRUCTION OF VICTORIA FALLS BRIDGE!
In 1905, 115 years ago, British Engineers constructed the Victoria Falls Bridge linking Zambia and Zimbabwe. This was part of Cecil John Rhodes mega project of connecting Africa from Cape Town to Cairo via rail.

Note, however, that the bridge was built/prefabricated in England and then shipped to Mozambique and transported to its current location from the Port of Beira by rail for assembly.

The assembly took only 14 months and it fit according to specifications.

Note, that this was 125 years ago before computers were invented. The British Engineers had earlier come to assess the Victoria Falls gorge, take measurements and designed the bridge based on the geology of the gorge, then went to England to build the bridge!

To this day, the bridge is fully operational carrying both trucks and cargo trains - 115 years later.
