60 years on, a legacy measured in lives touched!

This July, as we celebrate 60 years of BASF in South Africa and honour Nelson Mandela Day, we reflected on the impact created through our people, partnerships and community investments.

A special 67-minute Company Connect Call brought together inspiring stories from our non-profit partners Thanda, Siyakwazi and Corinthians Africa, highlighting how, together, we are helping create opportunities for thousands of children, young people and caregivers through education, sport and sustainable livelihood programmes.

The spirit of service also came to life at Sandringham High School in Johannesburg, where BASF employees, customers and strategic partners joined forces to revitalise learning and wellness spaces. A key highlight was the refurbishment of the school's science laboratory, laying the foundation for a long-term STEM education programme.

One of the photos shared shows the laboratory's before state, reminding us why initiatives like these matter and the impact collective action can make.

60 Years. 67 Minutes. One Moment to Reflect! Today, in South Africa celebrates 60 years of partnerships, innovation and shared progress. 🎉

As we honour Nelson Mandela's legacy, we're turning reflection into action at Sandringham high school in Johannesburg, where BASF employees, customers, strategic partners and the school community have come together to upgrade learning and wellness spaces, including a refurbished laboratory that will support future generations through STEM education.

A special thank you to Kansai Plascon, BUSTQUE, Foam Factory CC, Trend Group, Protek, A-Thermal and Technical Finishes (a Saint-Gobain brand) for partnering with us to create a lasting legacy through education.

The full impact of today's activities will be revealed soon. For now, we're proud to be turning 60 years of progress into opportunities for future generations.

For 60 years, BASF has been part of South Africa's journey and, for 161 years, part of a global legacy built on creating chemistry for a .

Today, as South Africa commemorates National Youth Day, we are reminded that the true legacy of Youth Day is not only remembering the past, but creating opportunities that enable young people to shape the future.

From graduates taking their first steps into the world of work, to apprentices building skills for the future, young professionals finding their voice through our Africa Arise Corporate Toastmasters Club, and young women empowered through the BASF Trust, we are proud to invest in opportunities that change people's lives.

With more than R160 million invested through the BASF Trust, over 60 young women from disadvantaged backgrounds have been empowered through access to higher education, development opportunities and greater economic participation.

Because when one young person is given an opportunity, the impact reaches far beyond the individual. It strengthens families, uplifts communities and helps shape a stronger South Africa for generations to come.

That is the future we are investing in. That is the future we are committed to building.

New year, new home!

BASF South Africa has officially opened the doors to our new office at The Ingress, Waterfall City.

This move represents more than a fresh address, it symbolises a renewed focus on collaboration, creativity, and future-ready ways of working.

Our new space brings teams closer and sets the tone for an exciting year ahead.

Historic Milestone: BASF South Africa Achieves Level 1 B-BBEE Status!

BASF South Africa has made history as the first non-South African multinational chemical company to achieve a Level 1 B-BBEE rating!

This achievement is more than a number, it’s about inclusive growth, transformation, and creating opportunities for generations to come.
