Today, we celebrate Africa Day 🌍✨
But what exactly is Africa Day, and why does it matter?
Africa Day commemorates the formation of the Organisation of African Unity — now known as the African Union — on 25 May 1963.
More than just a date, Africa Day is a celebration of African unity, resilience, diversity, and progress. It’s a moment to honour the rich cultures, languages, traditions, and stories that make this beautiful continent so unique. 🌍

Many South Africans know that this week is short, however some may not know why.
Yesterday the 28th of April was Freedom Day, the day that we as South Africans celebrate the first ever truly democratic elections to take place in our nation.
The other day to note this week is the 1st of May, otherwise known as workers day. It is a day that we celebrate the rights of workers everywhere and the hard work done by unions throughout history.
So enjoy this short week, but take note of the sacrifices that made it possible and take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by those in the past to pave a better future for all.

Day 110 out of 365...
110 days into the year, and the numbers tell a story of momentum, growth, and progress. Behind every metric is a commitment to doing better, moving faster, and thinking bigger. Campaigns are either starting to gain momentum or they are still being brainstormed, what is important to remember is that there are still 225 days left of 2026 so make them count by developing meaningful campaigns.

The grass isn’t greener on the other side… it is just different.
This “Grass is Always Browner on the Other Side of the Fence Day,” so here is your PR reminder:
🤝 Every brand is figuring it out as they go
🗣 The best stories aren’t perfect
🏆 Trust is built behind the scenes, not overnight
đź‘‚ Audiences value honestyďż˝
📣 There is no short cut to earned media
In PR, it’s easy to look sideways. Just Remember it is not always greener on the other side.

There is no secret sauce or viral shortcut in PR đź«™ !
What people often call “great PR” usually isn’t luck or magic.
It’s the result of work most people never see:
– Building relationships long before you need to pitch
– Finding the real story angle, not just sharing an announcement
– Knowing when, where, and how to pitch
– Showing up consistently, even after the big moment passes
Because good PR isn’t about hacks. It’s about strategy, trust, and persistence over time.

Paid vs Earned Media: What’s the difference - and why does it matter?
An unfortunate truth is that not all visibility is created equal, especially in PR. Two standout ways a brand can show up in front of the right audience is through either paid media and earned media. Understanding the difference between the two can completely transform the way a brand builds trust.
Paid media you get what you pay for - from ads, sponsored posts, influencer partnerships, and paid spots in publications. You control the messaging, when it gets released, and where it lands. This guarantees brand visibility and targeted reach.
Earned media- Is coverage you don’t pay for — news features, reviews, organic mentions and shares. It isn’t guaranteed and you don’t control the narrative. But that’s precisely its value. When others speak about your brand, it carries greater credibility and trust.
Paid media buys attention and Earned media builds reputation. Which one are you betting on? 🤪

A quick look at this weekend’s trending searches from the T20 Cricket World Cup to the Six Nations and FA Cup — shows just how much sport dominates public attention.
For brands, that kind of attention is gold. But from a PR perspective, sponsorship is about far more than logo placement. It’s about emotional real estate. When fans say “Nedbank Cup” or “FNB Stadium,” the brand isn’t an advertiser it’s part of the story. Over time, that repeated, emotionally charged exposure shifts perception. It builds familiarity. Credibility. Affinity.
That’s where the real PR value lies. That’s reputation (the real scoreboard).
Because the strongest brands don’t just show up in the moment — they become associated with it.
