It’s my birthday. That means you’re getting a vanity post — and my annual life lessons, earned from experience and the mentors generous enough to share theirs.
I. Patience outlasts all urgency.
Every crisis that feels eternal passes. Time is the great equalizer — learn to work with it, not against it.
II. Character is built in obscurity.
Who you are when no one is watching is who you truly are. Tend to that person above all else.
III. Pain is a teacher, not a punishment.
Every wound — physical or otherwise — carries a lesson. Look for it before the sting fades.
IV. Most fears are borrowed.
The things you dread are mostly imagined. Return them. They were never yours to carry.
V. Choose your companions with great care.
You will become the sum of those closest to you. Choose accordingly.
VI. Speak less. Listen far more.
The wisest people I’ve met are rarely the loudest. Silence is not emptiness — it is readiness.
VII. The body is a temple you rent.
Sleep, move, eat with intention. Neglect it young and it will collect the debt old.
VIII. Forgiveness is not for them — it is for you.
Letting go is an act of self-liberation, not surrender.
IX. Money is a tool, not a destination.
Master it before it masters you. Then put it in its proper place.
X. Love boldly and without reservation.
Hearts are not depleted by giving — they expand.
XI. Comparison is a thief of the highest order.
Every moment measuring your life against another’s is a moment of your own life wasted. Spend it elsewhere.
XII. A skill mastered is a freedom earned.
The person who can build, heal, grow, or create will never be truly powerless. Invest in craft.
XIII. Nature restores what people deplete.
When the world becomes too loud, walk into forests, fields, and open sky. It will never fail you.
XIV. Humility is the mark of the truly strong.
The most formidable people wear their knowledge lightly. Arrogance is just insecurity in better clothes.
XV. Routine is the scaffold of great things.
Inspiration is a guest. Discipline lives here. Show up — especially when you don’t want to.

To Showmax. Thank you!
You were more than a streaming platform! You were a stage. A stage for African stories, African voices, African faces. And behind every one of those stories, there were people like me… cameras in hand, on set before sunrise, chasing the perfect light for a poster, a campaign, a moment that would stop someone mid-scroll and make them feel something.
You gave local creatives a seat at the table. You said Mzansi stories matter. And the world listened.
I had the privilege of shooting campaigns that brought your shows to life....the colours, the characters, the drama, the joy. Those frames weren’t just jobs. They were love letters to our culture.
Now the curtain falls on 30 April. The screens go dark. And I won’t pretend it doesn’t sting.
But every image I captured for you lives on in feeds, in memories, in the work I’m most proud of. You shaped my portfolio and my perspective. You reminded me why I do this.
Farewell, Showmax. You were Africa’s own.

Time and time again, I get asked about the gear, specifically the lens, I use.
While equipment is ultimately just a tool in the creative process, my go-to lens for beauty work is the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM.
The focal range gives me the compression I need for flattering facial proportions, and the optics deliver minimal distortion, which is critical in beauty where skin texture, symmetry, and detail matter. At 135–200mm, the perspective compression is especially elegant, isolating the subject while maintaining natural geometry.
It’s not about the gear but when the tool supports the vision this precisely, it earns its place in the kit.
