Meaningful progress requires creating an environment where women experience the opportunity to thrive, lead, and influence the present and future of the industry. In The Sunday Times ZA’s recent feature, which focused on The Future of Gender Transformation in Mining, Jessica Sonnekus (Prinsloo), Leadership, Culture, and Strategic Change Management Lead, highlights how gender transformation in the Mining sector goes beyond compliance.

One line from Google Summit 2026 in Johannesburg still keeps coming up in conversations around our office: the businesses that win in the next decade won't be the ones with the most data, they'll be the ones who ask it the best questions.
That's the thread running through everything we saw in Johannesburg. Across the panels and presentations, a clear picture emerged: AI adoption is no longer the differentiator. Everyone's adopting it. What separates leaders from the rest is judgement: knowing which problems are worth solving, which risks are worth taking, and which decisions still need a human hand on the wheel.
A few ideas from the summit have stayed with us:
→ The gap between "having AI" and "having an AI advantage" is widening fast, and it's being decided in the boardroom, not the server room.
→ Trust is becoming a competitive asset. The organisations getting this right are the ones being deliberate about governance and transparency from day one, not bolting it on later.
→ The most valuable transformation conversations aren't about technology at all. They're about culture, talent, and whether your teams are equipped to work differently, not just faster.
None of this is about chasing the next model release. It's about building the judgement, the guardrails, and the courage to act on what the data is telling you.
We've pulled together the highlights from our time in Johannesburg, including moments from the panel and a few sharp perspectives on where business is headed next.
🎥 Watch the highlights video below, and let us know: which of these shifts is your organisation already navigating, and which one still keeps you up at night?
